In recent years, it was always estimated at 200-300. Given the size and type of installation they have in the desert, I'm inclined to go with the usual figure.
This info on Rumsfeld, Rice and Powell should be interesting though.

I really hate it when supposedly patriotic journalists reveal sources and methods. What is the point? They should ask themselves: "If the enemy doesn't know this, and they find out, will I be able to write more stories about how the good guys are beating the bad guys?" One can attribute almost any intelligence coup to "blind luck", why don't they write the stories that way instead of giving away secrets?

It is OK with me that they have at least 1.
I would not feel the same about certain other nations in the world.
In fact 82 Nukes is probably not enough, considering the current state of world affairs.

since Dimona was built in the late '50's and early '60's, and Vanunu compromised Dimona in what, about 1979 or so, (don't have the exact date in front of me), I'd guess this figure is real low and the 200-400 figure is more accurate ... even a USA spy or DSP bird caught them test firing nuclear artillery shells of the tip of Africa with the South African navy more than 20 years ago ... it saw a fission-fusion detonation (two flashes real close together) and alerted U.S. defense ...
82? ... bwahahahaha!!! ... oh yeah, they've got 82 I'm sure ... plus a couple more ...

What a shame. They allow their citizens to be massacred on a daily basis while they have this arsenal. Does not make sense. I'm sure the counter argument would be that one a launch would beget more bloodshed, but the only history one can draw from is once the US unleashed a nuke on Japan, they ceased to be a threat.
