About 1,400 factories have closed in the state in the past three years, says the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association.

"If this isn't a crisis, then that word has no meaning," said David N. Taylor, communications director for the association. He was one of seven panel members representing an unusual alliance of labor and business who spoke Wednesday at a Trade Sanity Town Meeting at Butler County Community College.

"Actually you are someone that is setting an example for lots of folks. However it seems others want to blame "greedy CEO's" or "the government" for their problems instead of doing what you have done and making a better life for yourself."

Well, if you knew my background, my experience in corporate America and my present situation you would know that I have every reason, experience and knowledge of the situation to blame "greedy CEO's" or "the government" for their problems...BTW they made it "our" problem when they started raping "our" once great republic blind, using the law as a shield and weapon...

it is why our economy is booming

Or economy is not booming, we have a 500,000,000,000.00 trade deficit and a 500,000,000,000.00 budget deficit.

why jobs are being created

McJobs are not jobs and real jobs are not being created nearly as fast as they are being shiped overseas.

People like me are going to have to pick up the tab for all those that will require help from the nany state that yall are creating and I don't like it. I want people working, paying taxes, I can't afford yall nany state much longer.

There isn't really much to respond to, you favor raising taxes, I favor lowering them. You favor the Nader approach to economic policy, I favor the Bush policy. You want to ignore the remarkable economic turnaround we're seeing, I want to praise the President's stewardship.

I think we're done here.

I know it's a novel idea to pay the little guy that actually creates the product a measly living wage,

They are. You just don't like who they are paying.

"Couldn't have anything to do with the fact that the USA emerged from WW2 with it's industrial base unharmed while the rest of the world's lay in ruin could it? Na, I didn't think so."

Interesting that you admit that the economic environment that prevailed after WW 2 was unrealistic

Glad you have conceded my point that US dominance after WW2 was an aberration and not a vindication of a free trade policy. We are making progress.

One last parting shot for our Chicom buudy

There isn't really much to respond to, you favor raising taxes

It is a fact of life in a civilized society that government must be funded. I don't like taxes anymore then you but that is just the way it is. So since government must be funded then the question becomes how to fund government fairly. I favor tariffs (sales tax) and you favor the progressive income tax. Progresive income tax = "from each according to their means, to each accoding to their need" or Marxist dogma. You are a Marxist, I am not. Good-bye.

Not true, my little Chicom buddy, I want revenue tariffs and you want progressive income tax. Nothing gives government more power then IRS code, which you all in favor of.

I guess you think the Founding Fathers were "populists" too?

I can't speak for the others, but I would be satisfied with returning to the limited form of Gov't. espoused by the Constitution, in it's original form, and depart from the Fascista-esque policies that have caused most of our present problems. ;-)

But alas, you are just a statist, so I don't expect you can tell the difference between the Sons of Liberty and Free-traders, can you?

Nice try but you made a declaration of my stand on taxation. Now eiher retract it or find a quote to back your declaration up. I still have a 100 bucks to give you if you do.

Well since you can speak for the founders I can too. They would have offshored manufacturing jobs too had they had the 21st century infrastructure we have today. They were nothing if not ruthless businessmen. They made up for it with slave labor though taking all the good jobs away from free men.
