I'm late reading this, but I am so glad I didn't miss it.
I never wore a uniform. (I "served" as a PD dispatcher during the Viet Nam War; and I went to DC to mock those long-haired idiots in their tent "cities" who were there protesting!)
I'm not a part of your Band of Brothers, but I'm honored to know you. I do what I can, when I can. I wasn't there to make you cornbread, but I'm certainly glad that somebody was!
Thank you so much for sharing your story!

I'm always embarrassed that I was an avionics mechanic and didn't do anything even CLOSE to danger. Think about the aircrews who would have been CLOSE and a half to danger, if you didn't do your job well! Stop apologizing, and take pride.

Thank you. I always apologize when I say that I never went into battle. You did exactly what I did: You went where you were told and did your job. [Well, I did it most of the time, anyway. Sometimes those idiots wanted us to hand-deliver them the moon]
No more apologies for that, Okay? Thanks, partner.
