I have recently been named as the Webmaster for the OSU College Republicans. The last Webmaster didn't ever update the Web site, and he left the College Republicans in a bad situation.
He left without giving up the password for the Web site. Now he won't return their calls. So while we are attempting to track down the password for the Web site, I am still scripting out what I want it to look like.
I am leaning towards The Auburn College Republicans Web site theme and look. We've visited several, and are still deciding. Here is our old Web site.
It hasn't been updated, and won't be until we can track down the password. We believe the old Webmaster became a Democrat. Anyways, if anybody here has any HTML tips, and or tricks please let me know.
Free Republic has really helped me learn HTML in the past couple years, but I know there is a lot I still don't know. The easy stuff like Marquees, Font Size, Font Color, links, pictures. I know that stuff.
I have managed to find a few pages with some amazing script.
Do any of you all know of Web pages which look really good or use a certain font, script, etc that you like? Better yet, are any of you College Republicans from around the country that might be able to give me some ideas?
Here is the Young Democraps page. It appears not to have been updated either. I am planning on making our College Republicans page, informative, entertaining, and downright Conservative!
I also liked The Young Republicans of Virginia Web site. I understand that if you put too many pictures, etc on your Web site it will become heavy and won't load fast.
But..I'll have plenty of links. Drudge, Rush, Free Republic, Townhall. Plenty of pics from our meetings. I've also made a message board for the College Republicans, which I will link to from the main page.
Another great thing I'll put on it is a place where people can donate money if they would like. We also sell T-shirts. We can put pictures of them up as well.
Anyways. Good HTML info...besides the Sandbox.
THANKS!

Get whoever is listed as the president of the club on the university's records to write to the university and request a password re-set. If you have a new president, get him or her to first update the university records, then request the re-set.

If you post an email address, it will be found regardless of how you try to disguise it. Everybody already knows
webmaster@bar.com, or
abuse@bar.com, ...etc. Just avoid posting email ids unless it is absolutely required. given you are at a campus, it will be expected that one student will post another's email-id in some forum, just so that the user gets more spam. If you are running boards and allowing user input, add a filter to remove email ids from general discussion boards.

Yep. Nice site but I have a problem with the gif they have used (and increased the size from original) on the convention notice. It's becoming distorted and html would have been faster and cleaner. But, otherwise, a visually nice page.

Interesting. Well there's already e-mail addresses for the Web site already on there. I figure they've already been spammed out. I'll use those instead of my own.

What did they use for the graphic that made it so distorted?

Of course, I always keep a "cheat sheet" handy with all of the commands/syntax, etc that I don't remember or use often. :-)
Also, there are always programs like Microsoft FrontPage which "create" sites for you.

They took a gif and resized it to a larger size. If you view the original, it's not so blurred (though it's still not great). I'm guessing they photographed a poster and used that.

Front page is awesome!

The pics I plan on using from the site will be digital. If I want to resize them, I'll do it before I upload.

I'd be glad to help. I 'dabble' in web development myself, and pretend to be a freelance photographer.
mail me if you would like assistance.

Me, I would take a walk over to his house, ring his doorbell and when he answers the door grab him by the throat and kindly ask him for the password......
What, did I say something wrong? Being nice to stupid for over 30 years never worked for me so now it's time to change my methods.........

The Auburn page looks good, but I would suggest more links to Conservative sites, such as FR, NRO, JWR, etc.

Less distortion if you use the original image rather than resize it using html. Resizing iamges via html seems to also slow down loading, albeit slightly per image. It can add up, though. Best to use something like photo shop or debabelizer to resize your image and use that image as it is in your page.
