I used to read my daughter a book called "Dog Heaven" and I remembered one particular line because I love it so much:
"every angel who passes by has a biscuit for a dog because every dog becomes a good dog in Dog Heaven."
Spot was always a good dog...

At least Spot died a quiet, dignified death at home.Reflects on his owner.

If they get a new dog, they should name it "Fido". It would send the RATS into orbit. That was the name of Lincoln's dog:

I can relate to your husband. As an adult, I've cried three times ... twice over dogs.

I had planned to vote for Bush, but now that I found out that the Bushes stole the name of Dick and Jane's dog...well...maybe Nader.

I'm sure it's hard for the girls, Jenna and Barbara, as they've had him since they were children.
Dogs can be such an important part of a family. I know our Lab, Calvin is.
How very sad.

Where is the link? We refuse to believe Spot is dead, this obviously DU disinformaiton....
To: cajuncooker
Aww that's just sad! I know what they must be going through. My folks were devastated when the passing of one of their West Higland (Westie) Terrier passed away last Fall. Jenna looked alot like this one:
They now have two young dogs, one a Westie and the other a Corgi. They're like two young boys in many ways. They've been having a blast with the 9 feet of snow we've had this winter. They dig and climb all over the snow. LOL

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
