Former Texas Gov. Ann Richards, who was retired from the mansion almost a decade ago by now-President George W. Bush, remains not just a state but a national figure. And she's lending her support to the effort to try to keep the clock from being turned back on women's right to choose when and whether to have children.
Richards, a divorced mother of four, recently wrote to friends calling for participation in an April 25 march in Washington, D.C., aimed at underlining the necessity to keep fighting for choice.
"I was reluctant to go," wrote Richards, who helped Roe v. Wade lawyer Sarah Weddington get elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1972, and then managed her legislative office.
"I thought, 'Been there, done that. Time for the next generation to take up the battle.' Then I went to see 'Iron Jawed Angel,' the HBO movie about the women's suffrage movement, and I was so moved by the tenacity and commitment of those women that I realized that I have not been doing enough in recent years to help the Choice cause.
"I have written checks and made a few speeches but I have not been really fighting," said Richards. "We cannot allow ourselves to think that we can rest.

Ma Richards better lay off the booze until after the march. The sight of her stumbling and mumbling along the route would be embarrassing.

The thought of the Left's prehistoric Shar-Pei waddling down the street, protesting (insert you Quixotic cause here), is both humorous and obscene. Kinda like the Left itself.

Richards, a divorced mother of fourI can understand the divorce part, but how did her ex manage to get close enough to her disgusting personage to have 4 kids!

Ann Richards actually spends most of her time in New York now. I ran into her going into a Starbucks a few months back.

Uhhhh, I'm thinking (and hoping) that they were quadruplets and it was a one-time mistake.
