It's the old eyechart gag. It's been around in cartoons and movies since...well, forever. The doctor asks the patient to read the chart, and the patient in a feat of superhuman vision, reads the manufacturing print at the bottom of the chart.

I'm just suprised that anyone would still steal this lame gag.

Plus, the Eye Chart says "Zola". I see that as a reference to Emile Zola who wrote "J'accuse!" aganst those who unfairly attacked the Jews.

A Leftist would have an eye chart say "GBUSH / AWOL". But Hart sends the opposite message with "ZOLA / GBUSH"

This is why I really miss Charles Schulz, the creator of Peanuts.

Schulz often interjected direct quotes from the Bible, and these were often some of his very best strips. I remember one famous Sunday strip where Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Linus were looking at cloud patterns and Linus started to describe scenes from the Bible--that was nothing short of brilliant. It's too bad today's comic strips are so much the opposite.

Thank you. I knew Emile Zola figured into it somehow, and you cleared it up! [must get coffee...coffee good...]. Now, would anyone happen to know about the large 'E' at the top of the chart? Does Mr. Hart's wife's name begin with an 'e'?
