Is Fred published in a newspaper anywhere ? He's great !

Fred was once published in the generally conservative Washington Times (not to be confused with the Stalinist Washinton comPost), but found the editorial strictures even there to be a bit too strict. So now he self-publishes.

This guy's so funny and right on, he seems to have done the same drugs and amounts as me. ;)

I was reading an article of his on his site from September, 2003. He was going to be out of town, so he wrote his readers:

PS: I'll be in Thailand most of October, but will endeavor to produce lies and distortion from thence. Fred"

LOL!

This guy--Fred--is one heck of a read. A new addition to "My Favorites". Thanks.

You're welcome. I started reading him this morning, and can't stop. He's a sicko, and I mean that as a compliment.

(*NOTE* not replying to poster of article!)

So Fred, you moved to Mexico? The US wasn't good enough, so you MOVED to MEXICO. Instead of getting off yer whiney butt and doing something to improve your homeland and ensure its prosperity, you moved to a place that is ten times more corrupt, much poorer, much less free, and much more likely to step on uppity foreigners. Yeah, you're a real patriot, not to mention a genius.

I don't have much respect for anyone, left or right, who just up and leaves because our country doesn't conform to their pristine picture of perfection. To heck (or Mexico) with 'em!

By your handle, you could be Fred. :)

And that's a good thing.

Eh, it's one thing for a dopey lefty to say things like that. GOOD RIDDENCE! But for someone who is smart, especially a guy like this who really knows better, it is frustrating. Why leave when you can fix it? It is like leaving a man behind, only moreso.

BTW, I watched my Cherrios very carefully this morning, and they tasted fine. ;o)

He's a genius.

But, from what I've read of his, and it isn't too much yet, he really could use just a little edge to show that he isn't so terribly cynical and jaded, IMO.

But, as Butch Cassidy used to say when he glumly noticed the old, quaint banks all "securitied-up", "Small price to pay for beauty."

LOL!

He seems to be 80% retired. Fred moved down Mexico way because his pension and saving go much further there. Follow the moolah!

Yeh, you're right on this. But I think he'll be back to contribute, but if not, I think his writing is a large enough contribution.

And, I think this guy's writings will be greatly received and reknowned in the future, and in that manner, will serve a purpose to the country. I just sent away for his book, "Nekkid in Austin".

Has anyone here read it?

I'm 40 percent closer to 80 percent retired since I moved to the Ozarks but still don't have Fred's gift...

Thank you.

I like Fred. Lately though he comes across as just another America-trashing whine-bag. Perhaps instead of complaining about the same issues over and over from his hacienda in Mexico, he could offer a suggestion or two (however unreasonable) the way he used to do.

Fred Reed becomes less entertaining and more annoying with each passing day. That is sad.

Yawn. Another whiny screed -- reads like the stereotypical FR opus.

One need only note that Fred Reed left the US for Mexico -- hardly a beacon of hope for those who yearn for the good old days.

Why did he really leave? Probably because he can go to Mexico and be rich.
