Support Kerry for President: Presidential Nominee Kerry an Easy Foe

Zsen Wiley

Kerry is slipping in the polls and if Wisconsin is an indicator, Edwards is surging. The Rove team and conservative base in America should hear the alarm sounding and do whatever they can to stop Edwards in his tracks. I can hear the catcalls as I type this. Many of my peers tell me, “Edwards is inexperienced, he is just an empty suit.” They take Edwards lightly and have already written him off, ceding the nomination to Kerry. I pray they are right.

Every ‘weakness’ currently being attributed to Edwards could and should invoke visions of 1992, visions of another smooth talking southern trial lawyer. I don’t trust the American public to get past the image that is pumped into their living rooms during election season. The best looking and smoothest talking usually win. Don’t get me wrong. W is a handsome man and I would assume many women would prefer his look over that of a Ken doll, but John Edwards is a Ken doll with a caring, thoughtful, sickly sweet southern drawl.

If I have learned one thing in this world it is not to put anything past the current incarnation of the Democratic Party. I have a nagging suspicion that between now and Super-Tues more 'news' will come out to sink Kerry and uplift Edwards. ‘The Comeback Kid,' will be the mantra our unbiased media use to herald in their new savior. He will perform well against Bush in debates and peddle his regular guy stump. Let’s not kid ourselves here, America is majority lookist. Many Americans will by into Edwards on his persona and look alone. The proof exists, remember 1992.

Thus, I implore you, my fellow Republicans, conservatives, constitutionalists and like minded folk, (who would be much happier if the Republicans actually did believe in less government but will vote for Bush anyway because the alternative is so damn frightening)do what you can to stop Edwards before he gets started. Kerry will be an easy target and isn’t easy on the eyes. His record will sink him. The flyover will not go for the Massachusetts liberal. Edwards represents the best chance the Democrats have and if he gets the momentum we just may have another slick talking, trial lawyer running the western world. God forbid we go down that path again.

This is why I have asked those on this forum who are creating petitions and calls to "alert the media!" to at least wait until Kerry gets the nomination. It hasn't helped. ...sigh...

I'm not sure that the obvious to us, is reality based when it comes to the melon-headed people who line up on the left. We may see Kerry for what he is, but the left couldn't see Bill Clinton for what he was. If they couldn't see Clinton for what he was, Kerry will be their cup of tea without a second thought.

Like it or not we're dealing with people who think Iraq is about nothing but oil. They think socialism is the ultimate goal. They are sure Ronald Reagan was brain dead at 50 and George Bush is little different than Hitler.

These people don't understand the concept of the electoral college and why Bush won the 2000 election. They think a judicial coup was executed.

Never underestimate the ability of the left to sell this nation out condemning everyone else for betraying our founding father's ideals.

I still like the ketchup man selecting hillary. Then when it's 60 days away the ketchup mans exploits surface & he resigns with hillary at the throne.

A Buddhist coyote who can't spell?

Seriously though, it was Republicans and Independents that put a scare into sKerry by voting for Edwards in the primary. They almost beat the eff out of him. Oh, well. Edwards didn't win, but I'll bet sKerry's valet hated carrying his shatty pants away to be cleaned.

Shhhhh!

Do you really want to Dems to figure this out and nominate Edwards? ;)

Actually I think Bush wouldn't have any trouble beating Edwards, who may have youthful, boyish good looks, but he also looks inexperienced, not someone you want as Commander-in-Chief, when we are fighting terrorists.

Both Kerry and Edwards are more likely to worry about their hair, than the security of the nation.

I think anyone underestimating Edwards is making a big, big mistake.

I am not underestimating Edwards -- I just don't want to give the Dems any ideas. Just the way they made Dean implode and Kerry emerge, they can make Kerry implode and Edwards emerge, then Endwards implode and subsitute in Hillary, AFTER all the primaries are done, as they have pulled the last minute Lautenberg substitution. I wonder if you can do that in a presidential election. Someone should research that.

In general I think we have to make sure we don't underestimate the Dems in general -- there is nothing they wouldn't do, no low they wouldn't sink to, just to make sure that Bush won't get reelected.

That is why, I think Bush's "base", even the somewhat restless, somewhat unhappy ones, better take a look at the real alternatives: if they aren't happy with Bush, because he "isn't conservative enough", will they be happy with Kerry, Edwards or Hillary.

Only the bottom line counts: who will be elected President in November.

I'm not all that concerned about Hillary Clinton at this time. I don't see how she fits into this puzzle. Edwards can talk the bark off a tree and would be the best candidate for the Dems in November. I predict that Kerry will be shredded by Bush with his outrageous Vietnam anti-war statements. Edwards doesn't have that liability.
