Cheesecake gets my vote. (That's the birthday "cake" tradition for my daughter. When she was first married, her husband thought it was terrible that I hadn't made a regular cake for her in years. She said she told him that she prefers the cheesecake, and that taste wins out over tradition.) ;)
My late husband, on the other hand, preferred pie. (But because his birthday was on Christmas Day, he always had his choice of lots of pies that my mom had made.)

Good morning--hope you're getting to sleep in. No 'disruptions' at this house.
It's warm again today so snow is melting and I actually took a walk after I took the kids to school! Rain, rain mixed with snow, snow starting this afternoon into tomorrow. But not much accumulation.
Prayer for Mr.B--
Have a good day!

Good morning Ohio!
Could you let me know the possible date, too? Extra prayers will be going out for him. :-)

They both love children. You can see that clearly. Also, the children love both of them! A real sign of character.

Yeah, I did. Now why would ONE man and a wife need a four story house with six bedrooms? I'd say it was a tad ostentatious for part-time living quarters.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I guess you'd have to meet my MIL to understand. Your suggestion [being differential] doesn't work with her. She is an air head and I don't say that lightly. She doesn't understand if you are polite. If I tried to get her to change, you are correct, we'd have to go find someone else to visit. And we have. Not her. We never go to see her anymore and never will again.
I can't say with all due respect, because I know her too well and have no respect for her. But, when I say what I did about the grandchildren, she does stop talking about that subject while we are there. I did that because it worked with her.
There are all different kinds of people in the world and she is an unusual bird.

**Could you point me to some resources you may have found helpful on dementia, or your own experience -- what it does, how it progresses, etc? My stepmother was recently diagnosed with it, and although I never see her (she lives very far from me), I would like to know more about ths. **
My stepmother is advancing in alzheimers. I'd love to know some resources as well. Thanks.

Many times Sean isn't very quick on his feet, and I want to put words in his mouth!
To: homemom
He got his money on frivilous lawsuits. His wife is a lawyer. Does this remind us of Bill and Hillary?
To: coloradomom
Only a small scratch could warrent a Purple Heart. Anyone?
To: coloradomom
That was why he was given an early release, as it would take too long to train him to fly another plane, and the war was winding down.
To: joybelle
You are correct. Sen. Kerry was given an early release as well. Isn't it interesting, but not surprising, that the media hasn't reported about that?
To: My2Cents
Will do.
I was one of those who offered to keep their dog while they were in Beijing. I was "backup" and was never asked to take the pooch.
David is a wonderful man - easy to get to know and his wife, Nonie is a treasure.
I'll certainly pass along your comments.
Did you know that he started a group to support Christian broadcasters? He is close personal friends with Tony Snow and Brit Hume and many others who you might not guess were Christians. At a time when they were first making efforts to get "fair and balanced" before Fox News, this group was instrumental in supporting those who had to take on the liberal bias in the media daily.
We're starting another Alpha group and I know that David will be a part of it, as he always is.
FR makes it a small world, doesn't it?

Ssshhh!! Kerry is a hero, though, remember? We wouldn't wanna say anything that would make him sound bad. (sarcasm off)

I know he's a lawyer, but she just poo-poohed it.
I heard him talking about frivilous lawsuits one day, and here was his suggestion. LAWYERS would have the responsibility of studying the case to see if it was warranted or not. If it was determined that a lawyer had brought THREE frivilous lawsuits in "a determined amount of time" he would be sanctioned from trying JUST THOSE TYPES of lawsuits "for a time"
Now who does this appear to benefit? The LAWYERS who will bill the clients while determining if the case is warranted. And how many MILLIONS could be made in trying THREE frivilous cases? Enough to take a nice vacation during the time he was sanctioned, I'm sure.
Ultimately, the clients lose and the lawyers win big time.

You're right--I didn't know that for sure, but I guess I'm not too surprised. Thanks for the info!
