[history]
Four months after taking office, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has landed in the middle of a death-penalty uproar that pits him against some of his fellow Hollywood luminaries.
Last week, Mr. Schwarzenegger refused to grant a clemency hearing for death-row inmate Kevin Cooper, a convicted murderer whose case has become a cause for a host of celebrities and civil rights activists.

Those supporters include actors Denzel Washington and Mike Farrell, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and former boxer Ruben "Hurricane" Carter. I suppose this removes any doubt as to the race of the perp. Amazing how an article can confer what it doesn't say. If this guy were white trash, I doubt Denzell, Hurricane and Jackass would be anywhere near this story.
I'm waiting to hear their charges about how California unfairly singles out black men for execution. Truth is, they unfairly single out all races to not get what they deserve.

Cooper's defenders argue that, as a black man and escaped inmate, he was a convenient suspect
THIS is what removes all doubt about his race.
Amazing how an article can confer what it doesn't say.
One must read an article ENTIRELY to know what it does or doesn't say. I find it offensive that you think the fact that just because Rev Jesse is supporting the guy, that that automatically makes him black.
Jesse has supported white criminals, too.
Don't you 'members his sue-poat of Bill...oh, wait; never mind. I fo'gets. Bill was our first black president.

Yes, you're right. Burying this tidbit in the 16th paragraph of the story, long after they've mentioned who his supporters are, it did escape my attention on first reading. Sorry for the oversight.

This is basicly another trash article that gives the facts in the case a pass. In this case it doesn't seem to be a concerted effort to cover for the criminal, but by leaving out important data, they none the less allow doubt to exist.
The defendant wore prison issue shoes that were not available to the public. His distinctive shoeprints were at the scene of the crime. After the killings, he stole the family car leaving prison issue tobacco in the vehicle, once again a blend available only to prison inmates.
The evidence was so overwhelming that the perp was convicted without DNA evidence, but years later he demanded DNA testing be run hoping to be absolved. Fortunately, his blood was found at the scene and the victims blood was found in the vehicle he stole, or on a shirt he wore. I forget the exact status of this last bit of evidence.
The point is, this son of a bi-ch is as guilty as they come. He butchered a husband and wife and daughter to death, slicing the throat of the surviving boy from ear to ear. The boy lay on the floor of the family home for hours after watching his family slaughtered, just feet from his dead mother, holding his fingers in his bleeding throat to stop the bleeding.
Mike Farrel, you diseased maggot, what sympathy do you have for the victims? These do gooder types are nowhere to be found when the perps commit the crimes. It's only when the piper must be paid that they come around to devalue the lives that were stolen needlessly some 21 years ago.
I have nothing but contempt for Farret, Jackass and the other enablers who find it so desirable to front for the worst criminals our society has to endure. Lanny Davis continues to live down to my expectations.

The problem is the ultra-liberal, anti-death penalty Nine Circus. Its the main reason murderers rarely get executed here. We have no way to get rid of some of the more ideological radicals on the federal appeals court.

I wonder how much compassion these bleeding hearts would show if one (or more) of their loved ones were killed in this manner (or any other).
They'd probably demand swift justice for the killer because of "who" they are.

Naw. They'd urge compassion for the killer. Liberals are principled when it comes to loving murderers.

" Those supporters include actors Denzel Washington and Mike Farrell, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and former boxer Ruben "Hurricane" Carter. A few weeks ago, the top San Francisco law firm of Orrick, Harrington and Sutcliffe agreed to represent him, including former White House Special Counsel Lanny Davis."
As a side note, all pro choice and probably supported taking Terry Schiavo off of life support.
Hypocrites!!
