What a stupid editorial, even by the Statist News (or snooze) standards.

Wait, I thought us republican were a bunch of redneck hicks? Now we're 'blue bloods'. BTW - Dockers is leftist and they suck.

Maybe it's because he wants people to know that he made it on merits and doesn't want people to say "You're only here because of Affirmative Action".

I got news for you. You don't speak for a nation. In fact, everyone in East Lansing, let alone the rest of Michigan and the country thinks you are a joke.
And just as sadly, many people reading this newspaper probably gave them a silent "right-on."
Don't like the tables turning, huh?
blindingly racist, the humor stops and the hate begins
Yes it is racist, and it is supposed to be racist to prove a point about affirmative action, WHICH IS ALSO RACIST, but where the hell is the hate? I don't see hate here, unless you mean a hatred for certain policies.

I thought the bake sales were more effective. BTW, this is a poorly written article.

The president of this group, who is of Puerto Rican descent, is a recipient of a minority scholarship.
Is this true, or just what the writer thinks is true?

The scholarship is now up to $3,000, thanks to call-in and e-mailed support from conservatives nation-wide.
And yes, the lad is of Puerto-Rican descent, and yes, he did receive a minority-based scholarship to RWU. That's his whole point in doing this...to expose the hypocrisy of the policies.
Tonight, the student Senate is congregating and debating on whether or not to pull the College Republican Club's school funding.
It's quite the hot issue here in Rhody, I can tell you.

That's it? I was reading and scrolling, reading and scrolling, and just when I thought this piece was finally going to get to the meat and make a point, it ended. Just dropped right off the face of the earth. The whole thing was just a pedestrian exercise in ranting and name-calling.
Was this an excerpt? Is there a body and a conclusion to this piece?

So, if the people who organized this scholarship at Roger Williams University wrongfully believe they aren't racist, and since it's clear they aren't funny, they must have advertised the $250 whites-only scholarship to make a point on how
white college students are restricted by affirmative action. How white students aren't eligible for certain minority scholarship opportunities.I wonder how long it will be before people realize that white Americans are a minority in America ?
If they arent now they soon will be when the floodgates from the border fly open full swing ! because in my opinion on borders is we aint seen nothing yet 8 to 12 million is just the head of the pin .

Are there scholarships that are granted based strictly on skin color/race?
If so, then a white-only scholarship is perfectly acceptable.

"Dockers is leftist and they suck"
No, Dockers are made by Wrangler (VF) but unfortunately are sewn in Mexico.
Wrangler puts the bread on the table for a lot of folks in my town.....and I have a company store card to get my Dockers for $14/pair.
Abercrombie would have been a more liberal clothing.

It looks like the kids hit a raw nerve! That is great:
The president of this group, who is of Puerto Rican descent, is a recipient of a minority scholarship. He actively benefits from affirmative action, yet mocks it via unfunny jabs that make a dorm-room in Rhode Island laugh while a nation rolls its eyes at unfunny conservatives gone wild.
The campus Conservatives are stirring up a debate, whether the Left likes it or not, by their action--their mild action that in no sense involves going wild. (Contrast offering a scholarship to a white kid, with "Wilding" in Central Park, and you will see how silly this writer is being.)
You do not have to be funny to stir up a debate; you do not have to accept any of the Left's premises or their rules in stirring up a debate. This writer needs to understand that no one has anointed him with Gestapo like powers to define what others can or cannot say, in order to stir up a debate.
What this writer is really saying in effect, is that if "we Leftists can claim you as being a member of a minority--one who we Leftists want to persuade are a group of victims, not a self-respecting people with a heritage, but a group of victims dependent upon Leftwing theorists; then you do not dare challenge our prevailing dogma."
This is their understanding of tolerance; as it was Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Hitler, Himmler & Pol Pot's. My hope is that this student group in Rhode Island will come up with one project after another, until they draw out and expose every wacko on the Left, with a need to rant against the human freedom to think for oneself; not only on their campus, but at a few nearby. They are close to ground zero, in the area where the major Leftist corruption of academia really got started.

I can see there being a problem when one minority group that benefits from minority scholarships and affirmative action makes fun of the other minority group that also does. I've seen that first hand here --- a younger hispanic guy badgering an older black woman who made it before affirmative action was around --- on her own abilities --- but he was telling her she'd still be in the ghetto if it weren't for affirmative action --- and this woman had never lived in the ghetto ever.

Dave Chappelle makes this stuff funny - but runts like these only give themselves and their organization a bad name."In summary, only non-white only scholarships are OK." /sarcasm

'White' scholarship ignorant of affirmatice action, racist, intolerant... As long as they're just throwing out leftist knee-jerk reaction phrases, they should have added it's hurtful, divisive and probably homophobic too.
