Why John Kerry Always Cites His Vietnam Service
Kerry's Record
Posted on 02/17/2004 12:28:42 PM PST by Williams
It's easy to say that John Kerry cites his time in combat in Vietnam to offset his liberal voting record.
But on a more fundamental level, I think it exposes a lot more about Kerry. Kerry was in combat in Vietnam for no more than four months. I have read articles saying the actual combat was only two months. Kerry is over 60 years old now.
His behavior after returning from the war was over the top inappropriate. He eventually married and divorced a wealthy woman. After that he dated actresses in what Theresa Heinz calls his "gypsy period." Then he married into the Heinz fortune. His Senate record was quite unproductive, to the extent he has to make up excuses about "how the Senate works."
The salient point about John Kerry is that outside that maybe two months in Vietnam, he really hasn't done much with his life. In a pathetic way, he's holding up two months to deflect attention from a life that has amounted to very little.
Think about it, when someone keeps repeating the same thing about themself over and over, there is usually a reason they feel that need.
GWB did his guard duty, but he also ran companies. Some weren't so succesful but by the time he was a major league baseball owner, he had hit some home runs. It was all good experience. Some baseball owners are famous in their own right. But Bush became a two term Texas governor with a great record. Just getting reelected there was an accomplishment.
What was Kerry before the Senate? Dukakis' Lt. Governor? Kerry's resume and life are paper thin. Except for those two months. He's a good talker, but I have met guys in bars whose lives were a wreck, but they still talk a good game.
Not to equate John Kerry with Jimmy Stewart's character, but Kerry's life is in many ways like the poignant twist in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Living a whole life on the legend of one brief period.
George Bush had to live his life in the shadow of a father president, and in the shadow of the brother they all thought would be more succesful. He built more notable accomplishments anyway. Kerry really had nothing great to live up to. And he hasn't.

And that's why I am here, to remind people of Kerry's slanderous remarks about the Viet Nam veterans. Kerry lied to the congressional committee about mass atrocities against the Vietnamese during the war. Semper Fi, Kelly

Kerry didn't wait until he was divorced to start dating.
You can look it up!

But did you know that he served in Vietnam?
BTW: think about this. He supports the International Criminal Court. He's also admitted (in several fora) that he is a war criminal himself.
Suppose he were to go to another country on an official visit...and the Democratic People's Republic of Vietnam filed a warrant for his extradition.

Has anyone read the citations justifying the two purple hears fow such small injuries that he had no time off, and a third purple heart for an injury that put him out for two days? Exactly who was his commanding officer and how many of his more injured comrades in arms received similar treatment? I understand he used this 3 purple heart loophole for early return home. He's an opportunist in the two months he served and a gigolo in the other 59 years and 10 months.

Excellent, Williams. Nothing to add. You have succinctly stated the truth. Your reasoning is perfect.

The myth of John Kerry's Vietnam record will be revealed to the light of truth before election day.
The Democrats have opened-up the Kerry record by going after George W. Bush's national guard service.
Seems Kerry is a one-trick pony and an insecure one at that.
It will be the liberals mostly who will not like what they see.

"The Democrats have opened-up the Kerry record by going after George W. Bush's national guard service."...and what brave soul in the Republican party is going to take the first crack at the Kerry Vietnam record? Kerry is counting on the just that fact that no Republican will dare question his Vietnam record. Somebody other than Ann Coulter needs to demand to see the records. Heck, does the RNC even have a chairman anymore?

Thanks for the ping, onyx. It is a wonderfully well reasoned piece.
I have only one thing to add. The Viet Nam vets that I know, the true heroes, don't speak of their time in Viet Nam very often. And, when they do, they certainly don't brag about it, or attempt to elevate themselves above others who didn't serve.
I saw that Ketchup woman is equating people who served in the National Guard with draft dodgers, those who chose to go to Canada, etc. That is just plain despicable.

Excellent deconstruction.
The question is what are we gonna do about it?
In terms of political tactics, we have to accept the awful truth that we've got another Clinton on our hands....Kerry even has a spouse who is planning to be co-president (Teresa is a Hitlery clone but with big bucks).
Bush is struggling to find the right formula b/c Kerry is actually running a presidential race before he's even nominated. Bush was forced out to NASCAR and onto the internet ad route b/c of this.
Kerry is taking a page out of the Clinton Playbook. He is already running as the put-upon "tolerant and compassionate" candidate who is a "victim" of the "hateful VRWC."
Kerry's own elitist sense of entitlement together with his adoption of the insufferable Clinton arrogance has clearly resonated with the voters (as the polls show).
These disturbed liberals and Clinton worshippers eat this stuff up, eh?
Bush can nail Kerry but he has to understand what's driving Kerry and his campaign.

Do you think that, with the high rate of divorce, liberals give a rats rump about their fornicating presidents? I didn't think so. Character, to them, does not count. Socialist policy is a religion unto itself.

Kerry didn't divorce the first Mrs. because she was supporting him for a number of years while he catted around.

President Bush will have to take the high road. We CAN'T.
I am happy this year, that the RNC is fighting back, and has plans to be on the OFFENSE, not the defense.

Don't worry, all the "investigative" reporters will be on it, right after the finish with Bush's Guard service. I believe they're now checking the rumor that once he failed to wash his hands after using the latrine.
