Has your FreeRepublic post been dissiminated in a newsgroup for "educational" discussion?
I just did a search for my FR login name on groups.google.com. I didn't realize how often our discussions are being cut up and released in newsgroups. One guy (below) in particular distributes a lot of them. Might be interesting to search on your FR login at http://groups.google.com

I did that and there is some guy claiming that
Drudge ripped off my story and used it on his page. I was actually posting one of Drudge's stories. Made me laugh.

Well I thought it was funny that they compile our comments (which are often off the cuff remarks) and then try to find some deeper meaning to it.

I didn't find any of my posts. However, I did find this gem when doing my search. This should help all of us die hard right wingers to figure out about our "sickness" called conservatism </sarcasm off>
: Berkeley researchers define the sickness of a political conservative. : It is essentially fear and aggression, dogmatism and intolerance and : need for cognitive closure. At present there is no cure for this : sickness. : : : http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2003/07/22_politics.shtml Excellent article. I've always thought that that there was no such thing as a "born" conservative. The article supports that. Kids demonstrate an endless capacity for change and willingness to learn. Conservatives, as the article points out, are afraid of change. The only reason why one would be afraid of change to such a debilitating extent (that makes any sense) is trauma during childhood. Not only that, it would have to be a common trauma but one that leaves the child completely insecure about its ability to deal with daily reality - a event where the child's expectation was in full contradiction to the way the event actually unfolded. Examples of such incidents might be being bitten by a dog that's friendly, becoming hopelessly lost, or being thrown in a pool to learn how to swim. All such incidents could leave a child afraid of new experiences, the crux of conservatism. Congratulations to Berkeley. Perhaps with the recognition of conservatism as an illness, there's hope for treatment and maybe even a cure. Good luck getting conservatives to admit they're sick though. One characteristic of conservatism that Berkeley left out was denial. In that regards, conservatism is similar to alcoholism. The affected person doesn't know they're sick and when confronted with the prospect, will simply deny it.

My feeling was that this guy in particular considers himself to be a high intellectual and he uses our low-brow comments as a way of instructing others how the common man reacts to events. I say nuke'em all. ;)

I think that Berkley study found that Reagan could be clumped with Stalin and Hitler since they all had 'conservative' leanings. Mind boggling.

Low-brow? Do I smell the scent of elitism. We discuss issues. Since when is that low-brow?

This guy considers himself an intellectual all right:
If, as you say, laws are made in anticipation of people didobeying them, how do lawmakers determine in advance which laws will be disobeyed? Do you have a list of laws that will be disobeyed that have not been proposed and enacted yet? Jai Maharaj
