I think my point is obvious: Kerry did what he could to get a safer assignment.
Kerry's saying he chose the swift boat assignment because he thought it would be safer
BTW, do you know...
has any newsperson bothered to ask Kerry's former classmates in Long Beach if they remember him showing up for his training every day? |
His ship returned to its Long Beach, Calif., port on June 6, 1968. Five months later, Kerry went back to Vietnam, securing an assignment as "swift boat" skipper

Swift boat training was up the coast at Mare Island, just north of San Francisco.
Yep, Kerry was penalized with that nasty TEMDU up in the "painfully astere" Napa River Valley for 5 months for specialized training.
Didn't somebody just complain about Bush being treating with nice, "behind the lines" training duty?
Heck, Kerry didn't even have to stand watches.
Unlike the officers and men he abandoned back in the ship he had left behind in refit in Long Beach!

And did the President choose service in the Champagne Unit of the Texas Air National Guard because it put him in harm's way, or because it was "safer" than going to Vietnam? And which one of the two, Kerry or the President, made the "safer" choice after all?
Your "point" does nothing but ultimately undercut the President, without effecting Kerry in any way whatsoever. In fact, your "point" does our re-election efforts no good at all, and like the balance of this thread, amounts to nothing more than counter-productive, juvenile sneering.
