Fight for our Children
Posted on 02/17/2004 4:53:11 AM PST by motherof2
A young boy was the victim of a shot out in North Philadelphia. There were some ninety shells from six different weapons discharged. I am a proud NRA member; this isn't about gun control. Some 40 or so years ago didn't the National Guard get called into Alabama to escort six black children into an all white school. They had courage. They were brave. This kid in North Philly took a bullet during a drug battle in a school zone and the last I heard they were having trouble identifying the shooters due to fear of backlash. If that kid had been shot by anyone other than the local drug ring ...everyone from Jesse Jackson to Bill Cosby would have shown up. I read a book about child behavior once. It is often the adult's reaction to an abuse that dictates how the abuse effects that child's life. For instance the child who gets sexually molested and then told by mommy to stop telling lies is more likely to suffer trauma then the kid who is believed and supported. We are creating an entire generation of kids who have no defenders. Girls can be snatched up while crossing the street ...6 can die in a tub at the hands of their Mom ...thousands can be left without a parent and the Dems still want to say no to WAR ...We need to do something about the pacifist theory where sex and violence on t.v. is great but there is no real structure in our own lives. Here we are spreading rumors about Kerry sleeping around. He is a socialist ...lets call things the way there really are. Only in the truth can our problems be individually addressed and resolved. Revenge isn't the answer but sound and well-applied punishment to actual criminals needs to be witnessed by all.

Fight for our children:
EXECUTE the sociopathic bastards that perpetrated this heinous crime
... and ...
Eliminate the reason for their sociopathic behavior by removing the black market profit motive from selling drugs - LEGALIZE AND REGULATE the drug trade and end the insane policy of drug prohibition.

Your FReepmail
ad homenim attack is duly noted. Here's my reply.
First of all, I am a systems professional who hasn't smoked pot or ingested any drug stronger that Coors Light in a long time. And secondly, why do you feel obliged to insult me via Freepmail? There are many of us on FR besides myself that believe that legalizing or decriminalizing drugs will eliminate much of the harm that comes from the drug culture - we have these discussions all the time on FR. We're not "druggies" - we happen to see that the so-called "War on Drugs" waged by government against its citizens is a major step on the road from a free republic to a totalitarian police state.
Instead of making unfounded personal accusations in a private message, try debating the subject on its merits in the open forum. There are plenty of Drug Warriors on FR who make cogent arguments to support their case that prohibition is the best way to approach the problem. And there are also many like you who make ad homenim attacks on the messenger just because they don't like the message. They are usually the ones left looking like fools in the debates.
If you want to debate the issue, fine. If you just want to call names, well, FOAD.

Media deification of the gangster
of prohibition days has combined
with the spirit of rebel youth in
response to inane propaganada campaigns
and the real world problems of poverty.
The substances are nothing but currency
to the black market from which its value
is derived primarily from its illegality.
Relegalize, no black market, no gangsters.

I think it's interesting you think I insulted you when I simply accused you of exercising the very behavior you want to legalize ... is that some kind of elitism ...let the drug users suffer in there own addiction ...hmmm ... where did you grow up I wonder? I grew up in the inner city ...I saw someone get killed supposedly over drugs when I was five years old. I doubt very seriously that the drugs were so much of the problem , instead lets take a look at the years with a missing father and the mom with jaundice from drinking so much (legally I might add). Drugs come as a progression from a dysfunctional background. They would be easily replaced by another unlawful vise if needed. Kids turn to them for recreation and attention (even negative attention is good when none is available)
When all else fails ...
