[history]
"For the last several days I have seen Internet and tabloid rumors relating to me and Senator John Kerry. Because these stories were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address them. I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false. Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me, but should know the pain they have caused me and my family. I am in Kenya with my fiance visiting his family, and we ask that the press respect our privacy and leave all of us alone."

When you get those mp3's running, let me know as I want to put it on my
0cents.com site.
I'm in the process of setting up a Kerry section as well as a 10 stamp "No Kerry" collection.

I still have a feeling that the Kenya Kutie is not the subject at all, that it's someone else,I agree. Kerry is a push-over for blondes. Tall, leggy blondes. I bet this other stuff is a distraction.

This is McAuliffe's strategy...and right now...it seems to be working. Sad sad sad... It won't work. You are correct that it is intensely damaging to American interests, but it won't work. Consider the history.
Incumbent Presidents subjected to "hate campaigns" (and/or extreme credibility attacks) by the opposition: Andrew Jackson, Lincoln, FDR, Nixon, Clinton -- ALL REELECTED.
Last incumbent denied reelection because the electorate voted AGAINST him, rather than for his opponent: Herbert Hoover, 1932.

My thoughts exactly and if we had a media that wasn't an ally of the Left, we might have an investigation into the matter.

I also disagree with letting this story die or wanting it to die. If John Dean said there was no story, and Nixon said there was no story, would Watergate have just died?
Either way, this is out of our hands now. The mainstream US media have judged it newsworthy, for whatever reason, and now they will pick up the ball and carry it. It's their investigative journalism so we can all dit back and see where this goes.

Thanks for the info. As much as I believe Bush will win, optimistic posts often help. There's simply too much beating up Bush around here.
That is one side benefit of the whole Kerry potential scandal. It brought many folks back to the same page in the book...where it says we need to continue winning our elections before trying to submarine our own. :)

I just saw this at "Spiegel": Alex had an job interview scheduled with the German Press Agency (dpa) in Nairobi today. She cancelled it over the weekend because of all the commotion.
She was applying for an English speaking job and the prospects looked promising. The report said the appointment was about a week old.
The rest of the article covers the generalities we've been hearing all along.
"Spiegel" only mentioned the Kerry/Polier incident once before, in passing, with the hint that the Republicans were starting to sling mud. This article seems to be more neutral.

If you know Alex in the old testament way, as you claim, and you know the girlfriends, who are the girl friends and what are they saying? Or, are you just bragging?

And suddenly the networks have the story, now that it's a denial story.
ABC's version here. CNN has it buried at the bottom of their lead story on Dean's shakeup. I assume the rest have followed suit now that it's the story they want.

Paul McCartney personally ringing the newspaper to ask them to lay off his wife and stop printing lies about her and his family. You do that by solicitor's letter, not a phone call.
Paul was making a appeal to the media in general. And you only do that by giving an interview to someone you trust to be sympathetic.
Was the Sun printing lies about his wife?

"This statement is a non-denial denial. This stinks. Nobody makes a stement like this without professional political media and legal consultation."
You mean your friends and relatives don't talk like that?

But the bottom line is this. If this woman denies the story, then there is no story. Maybe. This is where other people around her and perhaps Kerry start scratching their heads and putting two and two together. This could be the end of it. Or not.

When was this MTP interview with Kerry talking about it?
What was the date?
Can you find a transcript for the time being?
