[history]
"For the last several days I have seen Internet and tabloid rumors relating to me and Senator John Kerry. Because these stories were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address them. I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false. Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me, but should know the pain they have caused me and my family. I am in Kenya with my fiance visiting his family, and we ask that the press respect our privacy and leave all of us alone."

It always begins with the denials. Denial is a sure sign of guilt.

Drudge also has a link with this lovely comment:
WASH POST: 'Nobody would be too shocked if Kerry lied about an affair. Even if someone came to us with photographs we still wouldn't run it'...
Now I've heard everything.

How long before the media decides to jump inti the fray in this non story now?ABC radio just led the 3PM news with this item.
Amazing! They didn't report the accusation but headline the denial.

Did the Sun do the interview and the other British papers publish it or did the Telegraph do the interview and other papers publish it. Once again, what reporter interviewed the parents? And who are these friends? What are their names? We need concrete information, not mere speculation if this story is going to go anywhere.

We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, and intend on voting for him for president of the United States."This should read.!
Senator Kerry has now taken care of his side of the bargain, and like it or not, we will now vote for this sleaze ball.!

and then they are going to be horrified to learn that she physically turned in to the Communists the American POW who tried to get her to pass an uncensored message back to the U.S. during her North Vietnam visit. This the first I heard about this! This is appalling! This needs to be shouted from the rooftops! Anybody know what happened to the POW? I'm pretty sure he was beaten to death.

This was published at the time, and I've seen it on FR, too. Fonda's career nosedived for good after that. No amount of apologies could make up for the consequences of her actions. She seemed to think being young and foolish let her off the hook. Americans died because of what she did.

"We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, and intend on voting for him for president of the United States."There are several ways to read this statement. For instance:
"We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, (and appreciate the infusion of cash into our bank accounts...)"
"We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation. (It saved us a fortune in lawyers and P.R. men.")
"We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, (after Dad called him a sleezebag, Kerry still forgave him and gave us all this stock)."
"We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, (and arranged for the trip and staying with my boyfriend's parents in Africa story)."

We need to be careful here........this could be a set up to discredit the right. I see, so if we continue to follow this discussion the press will report unfavorably on "the right" from now on? Perhaps they will discount all of our policies and treat us as though we are all nutcases. Good call. Lets all shut up and they will treat us nicely.

Yaron, 07/06/2003:
i know alex in the old testament way, and i can tell you she is more fun then when the jews left egypt and moses banged down his staff, and... well, let me put it this way, she isn't kidding about the open marriage thing. She also happens to have lots of cute slightly unbalanced girlfriends, which should make most of the men on this site very very happy.

You're constantly putting this site down, yet you spend an awful lot of time here. Just because everyone isn't as "logical" as you presume yourself to be doesn't make you any smarter or better. Just look at the spin in your reply to me.
For all we know the parents may not EVEN know about the "sleazeball" quote..
Sure. The media's been camped outside their home. Their daughter is a reporter in Kenya with connections. She's not oblivious. The statements are coordinated. Do you think they were blindly coordinated? I mean, let's get logical here.
The quotes in The Sun stand unrefuted, undenied and unquestioned by the parents. Until they're explained or refuted, those comments still stand in stark contrast to the parents' endorsement of Kerry today.

Status: Open Marriage she isn't kidding about the open marriage thing.
Yikes. I guess that's why the statement doesn't include a ringing "I'm not that kind of woman" proclamation.

Interesting to note how A co-worker(last week) attacked the administration through me, on Karl Rove's 'push-polling' tactics using this Kerry affair story. Funny, I thought, there's no one on the right championing this issue, the Left has demonstrated that they could care less where (their) candidate's character is an issue and it reeks of Terry MacAuliffe conspiring with the LA Times to smear Arnold in last-minute push-polling using this exact same tactic, only a few months ago.
I didn't bother to confuse him further by noting that we are drooling over a Kerry candidacy... if only to see the looks on their faces come July when they realize they spent money on Empire Builder, and purchased just another talking donkey.

Yes, I know that .. but since she gives $6 million to Tides, I would suggest to you that she virtually "controls" that foundation and where it puts its money.

Well .. this is exactly what the rumor was .. that if pressed, Kerry was going to say this was a relationship with someone in the campaign.
The fact that the parents and the woman are now denying the whole thing tells me THEY GOT PAID OFF, and the staffer is willing to take a bullet for Kerry.

You're right, I don't have any confirmation about the father's and the anonymous friends' quotes beyond the article linked.
But the Telegraph, unlike the Sun, is a respected English newspaper so the comments about UK tabloid rags don't apply.
Furthermore, I just checked The Times and they have four articles about Polier. I couldn't link them becuase they were for subscribers only. This story is all over the press in Britain, the rags and the respectable papers. If the WSJ quoted someone you'd beleive it wouldn't you?
To: Beck_isright
Drudge has been suckered before, remember the sid vicious rumor?, and it's not outside the realm of demonicrats machiavellian logic to sucker all of us into a nothing story.
Its not important anyway, let's make kerry run on his record. he said he's run tough races before and is ready for a tough race now, but all of those races were in Mass. which has bawney fwank and the swimmer as elected representatives.
We need to keep the focus on kerry the lib.
