February 16, 2004 -- HAPPY Presidents Day. A columnist is the eyes, ears and mouth of the world. Today, Presidents Day, I'm not the Mouth. I'm the Ears. I report exactly what I heard at a corralful of Republicans. Types who've Made It. Successful. Comfortable. Two homes, two cars, mostly two marriages. They weren't speaking to the economy, outsourcing of jobs, Halliburton thing, abortion, gay marriage, cloning or old boy stuff as in why no one at Enron's gone to jail. Weren't interested in Bush's National Guard war record since they recognized that as Dem political trashing.

The squatters would rather not. They'd rather support socialist Democrats and try to claim to be Republicans, perhaps from the Che Caucus.
To: Liberty Valance
OK so a dozen RINOs in NYC do not vote--hardly a trend.

NO! they do not feel this way. GOP peopl vote. Period. If you hear of "get out the vote", this is DNC "get the vote to stay home."
One problem that the DNC people discovered in 2002. When they had their vans going to take voters to the poll stations, they were taking people who were goint to vote for "the other guy." It was very disturbing to them.
This is the new DNC strategy, get the other voters to stay home. It is 100% BS.

Do you think many Republicans feel this way? I think enough people feel that way, yes.
GWB is going to have to get each and every single vote he got last time (plus more). He already isnt going to get them and rightly so, IMO.
The only question that remains is how many representatives and senators go down with him (also rightly so, IMO).
At any rate, the republicans have a lot of wising up to do before they get elected to anything important again
if ever. But thats not necessarily bad and nobodys going to lose sleep over it.

To: Who dat?
Then you have totally ignored redistricting and the fact that those who are folish to stay home are defacto voting for a socialist.
This is just BS. They are reporting on the limited number of strange people who never vote anyways because of some misalignment of pet issues. Their non-votes never mattered in the past, they will not matter in the future.
The fact that they don't vote means whatever their pet issue, it will continue to be ignored.
To: babaloo
The leftist media is trying to spin it into a trend.
This has all the credibility of the Democrats saying bush's dental records only proves his teeth were at the dentist, not the rest of him.

To believe that way would require ignoring 94-2002.
It would require ignoring the chicken dems desperation.
It would require ignoring americans spilling french wine into the gutter. (litterally)
It would require ignoring americans supporting deposing a madman who put living people into paper shreaders.
It would require ignoring the greeting NASCAR people give this commander in chief. It would also require ignoring the desperate search for NASCAR volunteers for escorting x42.
It would require ignoring the plumetting ratings of CNN.
If that were not enough, it would also require ignoring how the world has new demands on the United States after 9/11.
Only if you delude yourself with ignoring those items, could you believe the negativity of "GOPERS".

I'm just cracking up this morning watching all the journalists try to spell "NASCAR"....

My absolute favorite was some moronic reporter trying to spin the cheering crowd as "undecided."
They looked and sounded very decided.

My father is a liberal lefty. He is a college professor in the Northeast. He is also a career Air Force Officer (retired).
I asked him if he would vote for Kerry. He said he does not plan on voting at all if Keryy is the nominee. Dad was in Vietnam in 1966. He also taught at the Air Force Academy in the late 60's and we knew many a brave student who went on to serve in Vietnam. The Academy students were treated like dirt during that time period.
Kerry is NOT appreciated by the military or military families at all. Not even by many democrats in the military.

Bwahahaha, what a democrat shill this Cindy is! She writes a column with a title designed to create negativism in Pubby ranks, then claims she's an unbiased journalist. The democrats are even more disgusting when they use their journo shills to manipulate the voters because it proves they arrogantly disdain the voters as dolts to be toyed with and maneuvered, manipulated and exploited. In this case, Ms Cindy is trying to turn a few Pubby votes into non-votes, in service to her demigod democRATS.

My brother-in-law says he is not going to vote. He has always voted Republican but feels Bush is governing from the right (tell me about it) but ran as a moderate. The war thing really set him off.
The good news is that he lives in Illinois so his vote wouldn't have been counted anyway.
