A retired Air National Guard physician recalls giving President Bush a physical in 1972, his son said Saturday, adding another memory to the small but growing pool of recollections of Bush's military service in Montgomery.

The memories of Bush's service contradict a dearth of paperwork surrounding his time assigned to the Alabama Air National Guard, but a retired Air National Guard personnel officer said the lack of records could very well be the result of shoddy record-keeping, as opposed to deliquence on Bush's part.

The president has turned over all documents to the biased left-winged press who obviously is in cahoots with the DNC and the Kerry campaign,so, from this point on the president should NOT answer any further questions regarding this subject! If for any reason that fails,he should go directly to the people in a nationally televised prime time broadcast and state his case concerning press bias and the gutter politics of the DNC!

I specifically remember the night Nicole Brown-Simpson and her boyfriend were murdered. I also specifically remember that George W. was not with me that night...

Any doctor that can remember a specific routine physical he performed 30 years ago scares me.

Ditto - A Freeper the other day said it best. "Name all of your college professors your freshman year of college. If you can't name them you must being lying about having gone to college!"

That has been the democrat strategy all along. Sling mud

Pretty damn good strategy! Throw the mud and let the media paste it on, and on and on and on and on and..........

You know and I know that the dems don't ever have to mention this again, the media will keep it alive till Nov. 3, 2004

Anyone who has been in the military knows how messed up records are. For about ten years one section of my records "showed" that I was "missing" for significant parts of the 80s. Luckily, other parts of my records showed that I was present for all of the 80s. It still took three tries and 4 years to get it corrected. There are many other errors, but none worth spending the time needed to get them corrected.

Anyone who has any experience with military recordkeeping knows what an utter crock this whole manufactured controversy is.

It is a very weak offering, even by scandal-du-jour standards, will be discredited as false, and will be repeated as truth by Democrats forever more.

They are desperate because they know they are going to lose, and it shows in the way they nitpick at Bush.

The good stuff won't come out until October, but based on the Democrat track record, it won't change anyone's mind or vote.

Just more inconsequential grist for the insatiable media mill.

I won't believe anything the press says about Turnipseed's "denials" -- unles it were to come from two or three conservative press sources (not quoting one another), since I read the telephone interview a FReeper did with him in which he said that the (liberal) press has twisted everything he said and says about Bush being in Alabama, no matter how many times he tries to set the record straight. In the FReeper interview, Turnipseed said he told the media that Bush could have been there but it was a long time ago and he had no specific memory of it, or something akin to that.

Turnipseed called the WH in 2000 and tried to offer his support for Bush when the dems started bringing this up; all he got was an automated response. His wife called his state's GOP and through them, got the info to the WH, where he was told they didn't see this being a big issue and they didn't need his help.

Turnipseed is not the villain here. Look how the press continue to villify him!

I want John Kerry to produce the doctors who treated him for the wounds associated with the Purple Hearts that HE USED to get out of Vietnam and combat duty.

Well John, I don't have all the facts, so it's important that you adress it.

Hmmm. Set your alarm clocks for June 29, 2004.

They have to villify him because it keeps them from having to admit their own sins.

The leftist media has no honor, nor human decency. They'd rather hurt an old man with Alzheimer's than admit their bias.

Where have we seen this before??

What makes you think that President Bush has lost his reputation. Among the media? He NEVER had a reputation with them -- most have despised him since he ousted Ma Richards at Governor of Texas and then when he decided to run for President, it got worse. Among the DemocRATs? They have never liked him for the same reason and even more so after beating Gore! Among the Moderates? Most believe this is much ado about nothing. Among the Republicans? Typical DemocRAT trashing -- throw lies out there to see if it sticks.

Take the media and the far leftists RATs out of the equation and the vast majority of the American people can see it is a smear campaign. Truth will be told on the day after the election when the RATs/Media are in mourning. Rush is RIGHT!

This whole thing is sooooo flippin' STUPID, you'd think the Dems would be embarassed by it. But nooooooo, this is all they really have and they'll milk it till something new strikes them.

If I was Bush, I'd call a big press conference, and "leak" word ahead of time that I was going to come clean on the military situation. That would ensure that every camera was there, running live on every network, with every eye glued to the screen.

When I had everyone's attention, I'd stare into the camera, and say, "Actually, I never served in the military at all, ever. I enrolled in the ROTC for just long enough to evade my draft board, and then skipped the country until it was safe for me to return. In fact, I loathe the military."

I'd wrap up by saying, "Now, can't we just move on?"

Good Lord, the state of modern journalism is really awful.

It's what it's always been. And therefore,it's predictable.

The same paragons of journalistic integrity that gave Clinton a pass for his "I loathe the military" letter, and his gaming the ROTC to evade the draft, are suddenly scrutinizing Bush for any uncrossed-T or undotted-I they might be able to dig up.

It's just politics to them. Their guy can do no wrong, the other guy can do no right. The "news" media gave up being about "news" long before any of us were born. Everything is agenda-driven.

Unfortunately, the GOP tends to roll with the punches -- and roll, and roll, and roll... rather than deliver a few.

As I said in my last post, if I was Bush, I'd give it right back to 'em. I'd spit in their eye. I'd sarcastically "confess" to doing exactly what their golden boy Slick did, and then let grit their teeth as I smiled, and walked off the podium.

But, I'm not him, and I don't expect him to do anything like that. Most likely, he'll do the Eastern Gentry version of the old British "stiff upper lip", and pretend that he's above it all.

He's not, of course, but that's never occurred to the GOP. They seem to think that if they carry a copy of the Marquis of Queensbury Rules to a streetfight, they'll be able to chapter-and-verse their accosters into a corner. It never works out that way, and they never learn. It's as if they've got their role down pat.

Contradicts a dearth of paperwork?

How about: Contradicts unsubstantiated claims that he was AWOL.

Good catch.

That phrase 'contradicts a dearth of paperwork' is an ingenious media invention -- of a nonsensical idea. Orwell would love it.
