Democrats Will Try a Hybrid of Old, New Policies
Sun Feb 15,12:00 AM ET
By Jim VandeHei, Washington Post Staff Writer
After months of bitter disputes over the direction of the party, top Democratic officials from front-running presidential candidate John F. Kerry to House and Senate leaders are coalescing around an election-year domestic agenda calling for higher taxes for wealthier Americans to finance an expansion of health care, education and other federal programs.

Kerry, Daschle and Pelosi said they are confident that Democratic liberals, moderates and conservatives will remain so united in their loathing of Bush that the policy disputes that have long divided the party will cease or at least quiet to a whisper. They point to one constant in polling of voters in primaries and caucuses: Democrats across the board are more concerned about electability than ideological purity.

There are a few things i would like to point out to Daschole. Number one would be the fact that I am one "disabled" person who doesnt want or need govt support. Number two would be the fact that ive never seen higher taxes create jobs.

Boy, taxing those who are already taxed the most even more is really going to induce more investment in the productive sectors of the American economy, NOT!
Even if Ketchup Boy wins (which I don't think he will), he will need a DemonCrap Congress to enact higher taxes. I don't think he will have it.

How can Democrats defend spending increases when spending has to be cut by half or taxes doubled if the federal budget is to be balanced by 2040? Democrats and Republicans should be telling us how they're going to cut spending unless they're for doubling taxes.

Democrats across the board are more concerned about electability than ideological purity. Why is it that so-called conservatives are so much more concerned about ideological purity? Daily you hear about so-called conservatives that plan on sitting out the 2004 race or voting for some whackjob just to maintain their purity and stand up for their principles.
