How much play will this get?

Retired Lt. Col. Bill Burkett had claimed he heard Bush aides talking about having his Guard records scrubbed and saw it happen.
But the Globe reported Thursday that Burkett's corroborating witness, former Chief Warrant Officer George O. Conn, disputes virtually every point in Burkett's account.
Eeeerrrrrrrrhhhhh. Crash and burn. Crash and burn.

I have some questions about John Kerry's Naval Reserve record. The Boston Globe timeline web page shows him being discharged from the Navy on January 3, 1970. Then it shows him being discharged from the Reserves on February 16, 1978. Yet on several other websites, it shows his Reserve service to be from '72-78. Is there any way that I can find out exactly what years he was in the Reserves and if his status during those years was active or inactive? It seems strange that he'd be discharged from the Navy in '70, but not join the Reserves until two years later. I think it's important to know if Kerry was receiving any Reserve pay during the time he was protesting against the war and the government. And, if he was on active status, did he complete all of his required sessions.

Well, if his memory is faulty now as a result of Alzheimers, think what kind of decisions he must have been making in his miltary career(if he actually had the beginnings of Alzheimers back then). I think CBS should make a movie and portray him as a fool. OOps, that story line has already been used by CBS on a Republican--they would never consider it for a dimwit.

This continues to be a political red herring and most American's know it. The issue may not totally fade away, but the feeding frenzy will subside.

There is a war against terror going on, the issue of whether President Bush's tax cuts will be reversed, the issue of giving amnesty to illegals, the question of making legal the "marriage" of two men...
SO LET'S FOCUS ON PRESIDENT BUSH'S NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE 30 YEARS AGO!

"Gen. William Turnipseed, the 187th's Tactical Reconnaissance Group's former commander, recanted his statement that he couldn't remember if Bush reported for duty, now saying his memory is faulty because he's in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's disease. "
I'm sure this isn't escaping anyone who viwed the related thread yesterday but note now whoit is whose being portrayed as recanting. A hatchet job will be done on Turnipseed(as he feared) rather than the press accepting responsibility or retracting anything.
And then,
"Retired Lt. Col. Bill Burkett had claimed he heard Bush aides talking about having his Guard records scrubbed and saw it happen.
But the Globe reported Thursday that Burkett's corroborating witness, former Chief Warrant Officer George O. Conn, disputes virtually every point in Burkett's account."
Corroborating witness? One who is given as a source at the time the story is coming out? One who would be talked to BEFORE it was printed to corroborate it?
Oh, I get it, the CWO is recanting too.

"he's in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's disease."
Alzheimer's causes loss of near term memory, not long past recollections. Hate to burst a bubble but some dim is going to point this out too.

The truth always comes out. Now when the media gets through editing the TV interview with Kerrys' bimbo we'll all have a good laugh.
