DEMOCRATIC presidential frontrunner Senator John Kerry today vowed to hit back at any dirty tricks ahead of the US election as he was asked in public for the first time about an alleged affair.
An internet gossip site today reported a past relationship with a young woman, but none of the mainstream US media touched the story.
When asked about the report on MSNBC television, the Massachusetts senator and Vietnam war hero said he knew about the allegations, but he shrugged off any hint of controversy.
"People are talking about it," said presenter Don Imus.
Kerry replied: "Well, there is nothing to report, so there is nothing to talk about. I'm not worried about it. The answer is no."
Having won 12 of the 14 states disputed so far in the Democratic nomination battle, Kerry is now the firm favourite to be anointed as the Democratic candidate to take on President George W. Bush on November 2.
He said today he was ready for an expected Republican onslaught ahead of the election.
"Absolutely. And I think we've seen evidence. We know exactly where they're going to go," Kerry said.
"And I'm ready for it. Because, you know, I've been at this for a while.
"I've been through some tough races. I've been pretty well vetted and examined from one side to the other. And I think that they're in for a surprise. I'm going to fight back. I am a fighter.
"I think that the American people want the truth about a whole bunch of things. They are just tired of the games that are being played in terms of American politics.
"These guys will want to try to do everything to change the subject. But the subject is 3 million jobs lost in the last few years. It's health care that is completely unaffordable and unreachable for tens of millions of Americans."
Kerry was in Wisconsin, where he is campaigning for the next big state primary on Tuesday. Before then, smaller votes are to be held in Washington, DC and Nevada.

Now Australia, hmn! Yesterday, UK, Ireland and Scotland reported the news story. Stateside--Rush Limbaugh and a few radio programs mention it. BUT NOTHING FROM ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN or any other mainstream media. WHY? They're avoiding the subject like the plague just like they did in '92 with clintoon.

They should have learned that if you have a candidate with a tendency toward bimbo eruptions that they just keep coming and coming.

He's actually right for once. It is nothing new--for a Democrat. The sad thing is that they have done this so many times the people has been sanitized to it.

It's called "bringing it on," John.

kerry can deflect all of this by waiting for the right moment during clark's endorsement speech. All he has to do is give ol' clark a reach-around and rip away clark's shirt, exposing the general's metal clad nipple. Who knows, maybe he would get a major award for it.

I've been pretty well vetted and examined from one side to the other. Vetted and passed over as toxic by the Gore campaign in 2000. Ah, the art of propaganda, pretending that your weak points are strength!

What about FOX? are they even talking about it? Whats going on here. I bet the only time we get this is after Kerry is elected president or something. Is it a real story or not? The foreign press seems to think so (and they like Kerry). Maybe we are in the ye of the storm and it soon will break--we can only hope. With the media in the liberal camp all they will report is if a REPUBLICAN has an affair.

It is appropriate that the mainstream news is not reporting the "story". It is keyhole journalism. If a blond babe is visiting him after hours for special consultation it is salacious gossip, not "news".
Of course, if it was a Republican, they would be on it like white on rice....

The National enquierer has it on the cover at every check out stand in the country. The housewives and and single women will be gossiping about this for weeks while the mainstream press tries to hide the info.
We will not let it rest till he gives better answers, as the next round of women gets exposed and then it will be one of them that will hav the press conference.
just like Billy Clinton, Kerry will screw it all up.

"I'll say this again...I did NOT have sex with THAT woman....." Clinton was absolutely telling the truth when he said that, of course "THAT woman" in this case was Hillary.
