WASHINGTON - A majority of Americans believe President Bush either lied or deliberately exaggerated evidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction in order to justify war, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The survey results, which also show declining support for the war in Iraq and for Bush's leadership in general, indicate the public is increasingly questioning the president's truthfulness -- a concern for Bush's political advisers as his reelection bid gets underway.
Barely half -- 52 percent -- now believe Bush is "honest and trustworthy," down 7 percentage points since late October and his worst showing since the question was first asked, in March 1999. At his best, in the summer of 2002, Bush was viewed as honest by 71 percent. The survey found that nearly seven in 10 think Bush "honestly believed" Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Even so, 54 percent thought Bush exaggerated or lied about prewar intelligence.

I pray the President gets these numbers higher. I realize we are in the middle of a Democrat LoveFest in the media (when aren't we, come to think of it?). But let us not be discouraged despite the attempts to shut down our CINC.

Exactly...numbers can be manipulated to say anything. Even so, it's not surprising people would have questions after this WMD nonsense. The press insists on focusing on this ONE aspect of Kay's report and pounding on it ad nauseum. After 8 years of the Clinton Administration's constant lies and deceptions this kind of thing rattles people...the dems and their media hacks know this (it's part of the reason they keep trying to make it stick).
Bush's honesty and character always win out in the end.

Polls this early are nearly meaningless.
I can't help but think most of this distrust of the President has been brought on the President by himself. He said one month before that Medicare prescription drugs would cost 400 billion, then it went to 540 billion. He tried to structure the illegal alien amnesty to get votes instead of really protect our borders. Now he's claiming that there will be 3.8 million jobs created this year, which when it doesn't happen will look like another betrayal of trust.

When only 50% of elligible voters are voting, it means that 25% of the voters in this country who hate Bush (and responded to this poll) can easily be outnumbered at the polls.

Yep... as many Freepers have noted, this is what $200MM worth of Demo bash advertising and sycophant media reporting will buy with a gullible barely paying attention American public. Fortunately, the Pres has his own $150MM poised and ready to go -- but he'll never be able to count on the liberal slimey pinko mainstream media. They are pulling out all the stops for their beloved Demos... Good for you, Recovering Democrat, for coming over from the Dark Side.

Who did this poll? Where was the poll conducted(Red or Blue state)? Why was this poll result shown? The liberal media has a bias, no REAL news is found on main stream media.

What sort of horse manure is this? A majority believe him.
The numbers are down because it is expected with the hits he's taking.
It's 52% anyway you look at it.....it is a win.

Now what Bush really needs to do to shore up his support amoungst his base is push AWB re-authorization and go south and talk more about his Non-amnesty Amnesty. Perhpas followed with another social program that will cost us billions.

Thanks, Release. I wonder, though, how the CFR Law will affect the election. The press, liberal in the extreme, now has all sorts of "free shots" at the Conservative Movement in America, and 30 days before an election, groups that represent our interests are gagged.
