A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

I'd like the press to provide an example from the 2000 general election campaign that Bush ever played gutter politics against Gore. As I recall, he strenuously refused to take the low road. I suspect it will be the same this year.

The old clinton trick is to blame the other side for what you yourself are doing. That is what is happening here. The biggest fraud of all is that the media allows them to get away with it. As far as I'm concerned, the media should be jailed. They are liars and they are committing fraud upon the American people.

O'Reilly radio program ... Mr. O'Reilly mentions the rumor, says it's "old news," that it has nothing to do with Kerry's qualifications for Office of President. Ssyas any discussion relating to throwing medals, etc. is nothing more than a smear campaign.

O'Reilly is for O'Reilly only. He isn't backing Kerry because he believes Kerry. He and Drudge hate each other. He wouldn't give anything Drudge reported any credibility. In O'Reilly's mind only he is a journalist and Drudge is a a mere rumor monger. I haven't watched O'Reilly in awhile and don't plan on tuning in anytime in the future.

I am in business where we see lots of people daily. Imagine if someone came up to me and asked if I remembered someone coming to my office several times 30 years ago. One, I am getting old and the mind does not work that well. Second, in the best of time, I doubt I would remember seeing someone in the same work force.

You're right! Bush took the high road throughout the 2000 campaign with Gore. And as far as South Carolina goes, it was not Bush that put out the stuff on McCain. It was from people that supported the President, obviously, but not from Bush himself. One thing we know about our President - if anything, he is too much of a gentleman when it comes to politics!

The truth is, hillie and the dems KNOW that as long as the emphasis is lots sleaze and sex, THEY WIN ELECTIONS.
But we all know that "straight-arrow" candidates cannot win when smeared with the feces of scandal. ANY Sex scandal is a democrat win. This is because in their party all exposed SEX is the fault of "conservatives." This backlash against Kerry will be blamed on US. And all the while, WE know who is really in the shadows pulling the fbi file crap.

It's only when the deviants, (like lesbo hillary, or anal bill: who are loved for their "courage") are accused as a CLASS that the minorities who they claim to represent, will flock to their defence and preservation.

This is hillary's best smear job yet... and the feces becomes her, being so well designed as to make her 'salvation' of the party at the convention, will smell oh so much sweeter to the American Public. Hillary, above the fray our true savior!

Kerry will say one line about this tommorrow. He will say its bunk. The media will dutifully report it as bunk, and then they will go back to their AWOL nonesense.

I don't know what the rules are inside the Democratic Party in terms of which delegates are committed on the ballot to which candidate. But if the Clintons stir the pot, and they time a Hillary entrance for the right moment, they could derail Kerry.

It was discussed several months ago when Dean looked like the runaway.

Apparently, if no candidate gets a majority of delegates in the first round of voting (where the delegates are committed based on primaries), then ALL the delegates are released from their commitments and are free to vote their choice in subsequent rounds until one candidate receives the majority.

The plan at the time was to prevent Dean from winning the first round. Now that Kerry has had a sweep of all but two states in the primaries so far, the question is whether he has locked up enough delegates that, if he loses all the remaining states to go and the remaining delegates split among Dean and Edwards, will the convention be thrown into multiple rounds of voting?

In other words, is the timing just right to practically guarantee a split convention due to California, Florida, and Texas coming up in March?

Good way to put it. Always interesting to watch the press go into their interrogation routine with Republicans (Tim Russert's recent grilling of Bush comes to mind). The interviewer's tone gets sinister, motives are questioned, and the facial expressions convey doubts. A marked contrast to the polite and reassuring interviews with Dems.
