CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS - Thread 1
CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS: KERRY FIGHTS OFF MEDIA PROBE OF RECENT ALLEGED INFIDELITY, RIVALS PREDICT RUIN
**World Exclusive** **Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.
MORE
A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!
In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]
The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

I have a looney tunes sister-in-law who painted a self-portrait with a four-foot-wide face and the most enormous glistening tear trickling out of one eye. I knew she was nuts the first time I saw it.

My fear is that he's going to lie about it some more, or tell some sob story, that his personal life is just that, personal, that he's being attacked by others (GOP), and that he finds it repulsive...
This has the potential to boomerang and work against our favor, paradoxically making him stronger AFTER this event than before it... In a twisted way, much like the way Clinton became stronger after his dirty laundry was revealed.

this is what I've been thinking since Hillary did her book tour, squashing out competitors. Than Clark entering didn't hurt. Then Hillary's visit to Iraq. All of her coyness. Than in New Hampshire I saw Kerry say, "If I'm elected President" suggesting even Kerry didn't think it would happen.
Of course all of the Kerry steamrolling makes me think Kerry is the guy, but I used to think that about Dean too. But I've always been suspicious of Hillary.

KERRY TO RESPOND TO MEDIA CHARGES What media charges? At this point, the only media that has "said" anything is Drudge, Limbaugh, and local talk radio. The established media hasn't made any charge, or even reported a story. What, is Kerry now planning to respond to comments first, and maybe ONLY, reported by Drudge?

O'Reilly has no credit with me anymore. Sure I like it if he supports Bush, but I really don't like him. How can he think that it's okay for someone to claim to be a war hero and then THROW MEDALS away in protest.
Kerry needs to decide if he was a war hero or an anti-war protestor. Because the anti-war protestors got the heroes killed.

"SUPPLY CLERK HAS NO RECOLLECTION OF GIVING BUSH HIS ARMY SKIVVIES!"
The former clerk, now retired after 35 years in the service, was unequivocal about the matter, noting, "It is not like I would forget a thing like giving the President his skivvies. So I can tell you for sure that he was not there."

Nope...I suspect a brilliant strategy.....They'll leak 100 negatives about Kerry and blame every one on Bush. About 10 of them will be valid....but people will tire of them quickly and the negatives will go to Bush.
After watching Gephart and Dean go South after attacking each other - Terry McC got an idea!!!

It's also far too early, WAY before the general election. Somehow this stuff has to come out a few days before the election, like Bush's drunk driving arrest.
Yeah, if it turns out to be an affair, and an affair only, probably either has only no effect, or ends up helping Kerry.
To: Quilla
Clark's endorsement of Kerry is simply yet another example of Clark's insanity.

This is going to be like Hillary redux. Kerry will say that the Bush Administration is smearing him. Clark is the one that told reporters about Kerry's affairs off the record but now that he is endorsing Kerry, the media will cover for him. Clark will deny he had anything to do with it and why would he endorse Kerry if he had really thought Kerry was cheating on his wife. This is so transparent! It will be "Bush's fault" and they will bring up John McCain and South Carolina and blah, blah, blah.
To: The Raven
Kerry's camp has already been saying that the Bush WH has been oiling up their smear machine.
You can bet they will blame the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and sissy boy Crawford wanted his email fingering Lehane pulled.
Facts will most likely get buried as the media willingly glares at any republican with HOW DARE YOU looks and barks out accusatory "questions".

Exactly.....it must be great to be a Democrat.

... It will be "Bush's fault" and they will bring up John McCain and South Carolina and blah, blah, blah. McCain's beef about SOuth Carolina was mentioned during Brit Hume's Round Table discussion tonight. I think you've got good insight into the playbook. What is amazing is that this crap works on the public, most people will "buy" the story, hook, line and sinker, that the news was dug up and promulgated by the RNC.

This is the worst kept secret since Bernie Goldberg confirmed there was media bias.
EVERY reporter knows about this. What's new about this story is the apparent presence of a videotape by the friend who's now 'sharing' it. Before, things were 'rumors' or 'innuendo' or 'old news'.
I believe Dean was still leading when Susan Estrich made her comments; now that KERRY is leading, it's old news. One of the reasons the media didn't go gung-ho for Kerry at first is because they didn't want to do a remake of 'Bimbo Road'. It's true they don't like Kerry (he's not like Clinton, all warm and fuzzy).
Clark has burned his bridges with Republicans, and can't be elected dog catcher. He will only remain important if a Democrat gives him a job. He's supporting Kerry for one reason...they want to beat GWB. Dean isn't going to do it, Edwards probably can't....and at this minute Kerry is still the best best. The Dems will unite behind Kerry, IMO, and Teresa will take a switch to 'the Republican operatives behind this, particularly Karl Rove'.
Teresa will remind people he's sick and it's a terrible thing to kick a man while he's down, and that he had confessed all this and he's a new man!
