Robin Williams went to entertain the troops at Xmas in a war zone, for a number of years in a row now. We don't like to hear criticism of the prez in an election year, but a nation of yes men is weaker than one with criticism. This guy is one of very few who has earned the right.
I'm a staunch defender of the prez, but Robin gets a pass on this.

Williams does do his bit for the fellas, but I don't think that buys him a pass on this, not in Berlin.
btw...most don't know this but within two blocks of where this festival is held you can see rows of buildings with bullet and shrapnel damage still there from 1945.

I'm a staunch defender of the prez, but Robin gets a pass on this.I want very much to agree with you but I can't because the fact that they choose to debut these attacks on Bush ON FOREIGN SOIL illustrates the weakness of character invloved here.
If Robin had said this same thing in San Francisco prior to saying it in Berlin, then fine, I could agree for the same reasons you mentioned.
The incessant need these people have to be accepted and idolized wherever they may be trumps time and again their respect for our country.

Why does he get a pass? Cuz he entertains our troops?

Agreed... Even if he hadn't gone USO... Robin Williams, and many other comedians do standup jokes about the president, whoever is in office. It is nuance that is not likely to fly on foreign soil, but the joke is no different than Bob Hope, Jay Leno, Johnny Carson and Letterman have done. It's comedy. Sometimes it works.... sometimes you hope the next joke is better.
