'Hanoi' Jane Defends Kerry in Photo Flap

"Hanoi" Jane Fonda rushed to defend Sen. John Kerry on Wednesday after a photo published by NewsMax.com on Monday picturing her with the Democratic presidential front-runner sparked outrage across the nation.

"The American people have had it with the big lie," Fonda complained on CNN, suggesting that the photo showing her and Kerry at the same Sept. 1970 Vietnam war protest at Valley Forge, Penn., was misleading.

"Any attempt to link Kerry to me and make him look bad with that connection is completely false," the radical actress insisted.

While Fonda admitted that she and Kerry addressed the crowd that day from the same platform, she maintained that their contact was minimal, telling CNN, "I don't even think we shook hands."

Her account stands in stark contrast, however, to that of presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, who reported in his Kerry biography "Tour of Duty" that after Fonda and the top Democrat appeared at the same Valley Forge demonstration, she "adopted" Kerry's group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, as "her leading cause."

On Monday Brinkley said that while researching his book he came across additional documentation linking Fonda to Kerry.

"I've seen their names in a University of Wisconsin archive on [Kerry's VVAW]," Brinkley told "Radio Factor" host Bill O'Reilly. "Their names are on the same mimeograph sheets, where you can see them as principal speakers together."

Fonda defended Kerry's leadership in the VVAW, saying it wasn't true that the anti-war group was rooting for a Communist victory in Vietnam.

"This was an organization of men who risked their lives in Vietnam, who considered themselves totally patriotic," she explained.

After Valley Forge, Fonda reportedly bankrolled the VVAW's "Winter Soldier Investigation," an event staged in Detroit in Feb. 1971 where Kerry interviewed disgruntled veterans in an attempt to glean the most dramatic accounts of U.S. atrocities.

Later some "veterans" who participated in Winter Soldier were exposed as impostors.

NewsMax.com has learned that videotape of Kerry interviewing some Winter Soldier witnesses exists, and is likely to be made public during the coming presidential campaign.

Still, Fonda maintained that Kerry's attempt to spotlight alleged U.S. war crimes in Vietnam was a patriotic act.

"How can you impugn, how can you even suggest, that anyone like Kerry or any of these veterans were not patriotic?" she complained to CNN. "He was a hero there."

Eighteen months after Winter Soldier, Fonda traveled to Hanoi and sat atop an enemy aircraft battery, pretending to shoot down U.S. pilots as North Vietnamese cameras rolled.

Hanoi Jane said it. I believe it. That settles it.

NOT!!!

LOL! The more she talks, the more it hurts Lurch. As for worrying about whether we are piling on too soon, I say kick him now and then kick him some more later. As long as the 'Rats are talking down W's service we've got to respond in kind. And, so far, Lurch's "heroism" is his only campaign issue. If, in the fall, he is talking about something else then fine. We'll beat him on that. But everytime he talks about the war we should, as the commie lovers used to say, bring the war back home!

"We need to lay low, let him get the nomination, then go after him."

Wake up, he already has the nomination all wrapped up.

14 states and he's won 12 of them. By March 3, he will have enough delegate to assure nomination.

This matter is important but the media will smother it. All the reason to start beating the drum and keep beating it for the next 4 months...

I smell a rat here don't I? This is CNN. Dems knew all this was going to come out on Kerry and Jane by the Repubs. So they plan weeks of Bush was AWOL, then send Jane out before the Repubs have a chance. They figure this will all disappear by fall. No way JK did not know this was going to happen. Add in Ford acting all upset on Fox this am. This is Clintonesque.

If Kerry had been President last year, Iraq would have become a quagmire. The media would have loved it.

All this does is confirm that Kerry is not qualified to become our next Commander In Chief and the leader of the Free World.

America won, Russia lost. Get over it Libs and MoveOn.

If Kerry had been President, Saddam Hussein would be in power.

Also, any criticism of the President (ie much much milder than what Bush gets) would be deemed by the media 'hateful' and 'unamerican' and Katie the b**ch Couric would be asking any Republican stuff like this:

"Do you think it aids the terrorists and Bin Laden to have Rush Limbaigh criticize the president for calling a national emergency and confiscating all guns? I mean, we do need to respond to the terrorists? How hurtful is it to be opposing our war efforts?"

Meanwhile we'd be subject to wonderful agitprop on the cable airwaves.

In his career in the House and Senate, Kerry was on the POW/MIA Committee. The last obstacle to normalizing relations with Hanoi was this unresolved issue and nobody pushed harder to bury it than he. In fact, when this was accomplished, C. Stewart Forbes, Chief Executive Officer of Colliers International (Kerry's cousin), was awarded a contract worth billions designating Colliers International as the exclusive real estate agent representing Vietnam. In the Senate debate itself, Kerry, rather than embarass Vietnam by demanding the truth, launched a highly publicized diversionary investigation of the POW/MIA families and activists, who were demanding an honest accounting. Kerry labeled them "professional malcontents, conspiracy mongers, con artists, and dime-store Rambos" who were only involved in the POW/MIA issue for money. Pictured right, Sen. John Kerry in Hanoi seated under a bust of Communist Vietnam's deceased leader, Ho Chi Minh.

#111. He he! I would probably not be mean to her had I not been around back then, however, I was, I remember the film and audio of her at that NVA 40MM AAA Flak site with the NVA troops. I remember seeing her fire it off. I remember that flak site crew with her there taking down one of our (U.S. Navy by the way Senator Kerry) A-4D Skyhawks. The Pilot did not survive. I'm sorry but B*tcherella Hanoi Jane can go straight to H*ll back in the Filth in which I remember her.

I was thinking they had sex!

To democrats, that's the same thing as shaking hands.....

A handshake has more meaning to a democrat than a roll in the hay. A handshake means that instead of screwing you now, they'll screw you many times harder later.

Clintonesque indeed... Clinton's had a way of letting the dirt out slowly, then announcing 'that's old news' whenever anyone wanted to clarify what the heck was really going on. The DEMS HATE THIS STORY. THEY ARE SCARED OF IT. That's why they tried to deflate it with this non-deflation. It's why they laugh nervously and say "it's old news, get over it" when it is brought up. BUT IT HASNT BEEN BROUGHT UP!

"I'm an internationalist, I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations." - John Fonda Kerry
