President Bush, at the Fort Lesley J. McNair National Defense University in Washington, announced new measures to counter the threat of weapons of mass destruction, for toughter international safeguards to keep nuclear arms technology from falling into the wrong hands.
He plans to attend the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

Regarding the politically hostile workplace, you might change someone's mind, but that is doubtful. Neither have I ... what I'm talking about is being mocked and ridiculed just for being a Republican. Given my personality, I learned many moons ago to just shut up because I am so outnumbered. I've never worked in an office in the Puget Sound area where this was not the case.

NO, Clinton was never considered a draft dodger by law. He avoided the draft in his usual slick manner.
Clinton joined the ROTC and later snookered his way out of the ROTC by registering for the draft when his chances of being drafted wasn't likely. I can post the letter he sent to his ROTC officer if you would like to look into the mind of someone whose aspirations drove him to lie, cheat and steal his way to the top :-)

Oh, they'll print it for sure. I've written a number of letters and they've all gotten in (not that big a place, you know).
Carter wanted to 'heal' the country, so he just mass pardoned every draft evader when he became President, regardless of the circumstances.
A smack in the face of every Vet who served his country bravely.......

No need Mike. Clinton is and always will be the ultimate scumbag in my book. I don't need anymore verification to keep that sentiment!

Well, as I understand it, draft dodging was a felony.
He DID it......he just didn't get caught.
Some day, he's going to pay for it ALL.

Good for you for writing that up.
I'd pounce with a quick uppercut in the first sentence by deleting the first part, "There has been much in the news recently about the military records of President Bush, and his likely opponent," and start with "Michael Moore," etc.
Might add "demoralization" here: "prolonging the captivity and demoralization of our POWs."
I especially like the "bottom line" paragraph.
FWIW - you know the value of free advice!

Hang around some more. You'll get the hang of it.
You can tell, we've had a lot of practice!

Darn - that Carter was a worse President than I remembered. During his term, I was busy programming computers 90 hours a week - pure geekdom. Elections, Presidents, Grammies, World Series, Daytona 500's, Superbowls, came and went, without my notice.
Apparently, in the case of Carter, just as well. Though I wish I had taken more notice of Reagan. One of the finest leaders in human history, and I barely knew him.

Good points. Unfortunately, I already sent it. :o(
Guess I was too anxious to get it off tonight. Thanks, though.
It would have made it a better letter......

They'll print it for sure? Wow. If I could only be so lucky. Seems I have to write 10 letters for every 1 that's printed.
I've been keeping track of the letters printed each day in our paper. It's about 2 to 1 against W. But most of the letters against are so out-there and so rabid that they are doing more harm than good for the democrats. Just makes them look like a bunch of raving lunatics. And some letters are just plain dumb.
The other day there was a letter from this guy who had this BRILLANT idea about how to handle smokers. He suggested that insurance companies charge more from ciggarette smokers than non-smokers. And the guy WAS SERIOUS! I guess he had no idea that insurance companies ALREADY do that and have for years. I just howled when I read it. A real brainiac this guy!

Carter was just plain AWFUL.....in every regard, IMO.
That's what made me so MAD when he was badmouthing President Bush. I wrote him a letter saying I was ashamed that he called himself a Christian, and was such a jerk.
Now THAT was a good letter!

LOL! Smart guy!
I guess living in a smallish place in a red state gives me an advantage. They pretty much print all good letters eventually. Hopefully this will be in within the week. Sunday a.m. is a good time. Bigger readership.
This county went for Dole in 1996, so you get a feel for how Republican we are around here.

You are very gracious. Even when I ASK for input on my drafts, somehow it feels like rubbing alcohol hitting a cut when I get it!
I almost sent you a heads up that I was going to reply -- should have done it. I kept thinking you'd be offline and see it first thing tomorrow.
It's a great piece, regardless.
