[history]
'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

I said the same thing on another thread. There was no way any 102 pilot was going to Vietnam, especially in 72. Not Robin Olds, not Steve Ritchie, not even Duke Cunningham (provided he was in the USAF)
Just wasn't going to happen. But I suppose that is the President's fault.

Please someone get this man on Chris Matthews show and have him faceoff these media morons and shut them up for once. Most of these people have never even served and dont have a clue about AWOL. You dont get a honorable discharge if you go AWOL.

I did two things yesterday that I am proud of, and I encourage others to do the same. First, I called my local ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliate and raised Hell about their coverage. Second, I called my Democratic senator in DC and raised more Hell about this continued hate speech from Kerry and the DNC. [Unfortunately this senator is so stupid he'd have to get naked to count to 21].
This is already boomeranging on the RATS, and they need to have their noses pushed into the ___ they created.

I am glad that someone finally spoke up. But there is a HUGE difference between John Kerry and the humble likes of COL. William Campenni. Vietnam Vets see it. Military folks see it. And we here on FR see. I agree

The Bush critics do not comprehend the dangers of fighter aviation at any time or place, in Vietnam or at home, when they say other such pilots were risking their lives or even dying while Lt. Bush was in Texas. Our Texas ANG unit lost several planes right there in Houston during Lt. Bush's tenure, with fatalities. Just strapping on one of those obsolescing F-102s was risking one's life.
