'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

Thanks for posting this my friend.
Kerry's slam against the Guard vets is a slam against millions of us who served in the reserves as well as the various guard programs.
In the recent Iraq war, we saw Marine reservists doing incredible jobs along with the regular Marines. I know of several Naval Reservists from Commanders to Petty Officers who were called up for duty. They went into harms way or did their job wherever.
In Desert Storm I, reservists and guardsmen served their country and did the job. Ask Fedex about how many of their pilots, co pilots and other flight officers who were Air National Guard people got called up in Desert Storm I. I know of 6.

Exactly. Watch Terry McAwful bring up the DUI- AGAIN.
All this PROVES these guys have nothing- no platform whatsoever- to offer the American people.

This whole attack, foolishly engineered by Terry McAwful, will come back to haunt the Dems. Just wait and see. This line-of-attack has 2 goals:
(1) Get rid of Dean (as a non-Vet of any type, he can't even participate in this debate), and
(2) neutralize the 'Vietnam-issue' (which can really hurt Sen. Kerry).
It's a high-risk strategy on the part of the Democrats. And Terry McAwful is the holder of the rug upon which Sen. Kerry stands -- meaning the Clintons can do him in at any time.

Now, Mo. You know this doesn't count. They want a person to come forward on a specific day of a specific month of a specific year that they claim George W. Bush was "missing".
Then they would investigate that person seven ways to Sunday to prove they were "biased" and were coming forward for politically partisan purposes to spoil their little scandal.
Screw 'em.
To: Tallguy
It will come at a huge price to Kerry- I firmly believe he has lost a good chunk of Vet support, as well as military folks.
And with all this other crap about Fonda, US troops under UN control, his own past will ruin his chance.
To: Petronski
Bumping and thanking for the post.
President Bush, and Kerry served their country when called.
The BIG difference, is how they served their country when they took off their uniforms.
Kerry turned on our country and supported the enemy.

Here is the strategy we need to win (for those of you mad at the President):
The GOP listen to us when we scream loud enough, lean on them, write to them, etc.
The Dems will never listen to us.
The best scenario for those who are dissatisfied is this:
Vote Bush
In 2006, vote the RINOs OUT in the primaries
In the 2006 general election, vote the conservatives who won the primaries into office
In 2008, we need an open field -- it would be VERY hard to win with an incumbent Democrat in office.
In the 2008 primaries, vote for the conservative.
In the 2008 general election, vote the conservative nominee into office.
THAT is the path to conservative victory. Sitting this one out or writing someone in does more harm than good -- especially because it puts an incumbent (hard to beat) in the 2008 race, whereas we have an open field in 2008 (ripe for a conservative) if we help Bush this time around.
Long-term thinking like this is what we need to REALLY win. Why cut off our noses, and give the Dems wins, to spite our RINOs now when we can retain power and sweep them out COMPLETELY within less than half-a-decade?

%Thanks for the ping.
A couple of days ago a Freeper posted a reply about the number of pilots killed in the training jets and the plane that GW flew back then. Unfortunately, I didn't file it and save it.
It was a very sobering piece of data. If GW was looking for a safe place to hide, strapping on a fighter jet back then was not the safe place.
Hopefully someone will remember the reply and repost it. If so please ping me so I can file it.
