When Haiti implodes, guess where they go? Florida. GWBush may have a hard decision ahead on Haitian boat people that will impact his reelection.

Ever see an aerial photo? Haiti is 95% stripped of vegetation. I don't have a clue how they've sustained themselves thus far.

Hummm- didn't know that! Makes sense- starving people will eat bark. I'll try to look it up later, and thanks.

Check it out. Stripped of firewood so they burn old roots they dig up. Even if a bit exaggerated this is the unmistakable trend toward doom.

http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache:1QcDnfjd6jUJ:www.disasterrelief.org/Disasters/980924Georges15/+haiti+vegetation+denuded&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

By contrast, Haiti for years has been considered an environmental disaster zone, where trees have been clear-cut from hillsides and vegetation is virtually non-existent in many areas. Satellite images of the island show a distinct color boundary separating the two countries, with a verdant Dominican Republic standing in stark contrast to a brown and denuded Haiti.

Now that you mention it, I recall reading that elsewhere. So far, I haven't located any current satellite pictures of the area, but I'm still looking.

Well, you take this here voodoo doll, and you stick these here hat pins in it, and then .......

Don't laugh. I understand from sources in Haiti that Aristide held a voodoo ceremony with Clinton to invoke supernatural help on his behalf.

Who's laughing?

You can be sure it wasn't "pins" he was sticking in that doll.

The liberal church harms more than helps in these countries. Venezuela and Brazil (http://www.ncccusa.org/braziltrip.html) are now on the same path lead by corrupt communist "populists" with the ever present influence of Castro (http://www.ncccusa.org/news/04cubadelegationwrapup.html - note how NCC handles the 78 prisoners sentence by Castro and the DoD not letting the NCC "visit" the detainees at GITMO).
Not much has changed from when "Who The Real Ogres Are" was written [http://www.nocastro.com/archives/elian24.htm]:
The liberal church leaders vilified Reagan as they now vilify Bush. Hmmmm. Compare Nicaragua (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/nu.html) and El Salvador (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/es.html) and Honduras (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/ho.html) today. Should we mourn the collapse of the USSR?
The liberal church loved Clinton (http://www.layman.org/layman/news/news-around-church/ird-finds-ironies.htm, http://ncccusa2.org/news/news72.html) and Carter. Iran, Somalia, North Korea, Haiti, Bosnia/Kosovo (http://www.unmikonline.org/news.htm), ... , bin Laden.
