Jan Matzelieger was neither African nor American. Born in Suriname, mother was Surinamese and father was Dutch and came here when he was older.

My mother read me Aesop's fables when I was little. I wonder if some kids today even know what a fable is.

In case you haven't figured it out already, South Africa is in the most southern part of Africa. If you head south from there you will drown.

When Garrett Morgan rescued these people that were trapped using his mask, he had to pass himself off as an indian in order to be allowed to rescue these people.

This reminds me of the time my first grade son's reader informed me that Aesop was an African storyteller. That he was born on the island of Samos (off the coast of Turkey) and spent most of his life in Greece didn't count.

Probably somebody made the false connection: Aesop was a slave storyteller, therefore Aesop was black, because all slaves were black

The public schools today read Democrat Fables to the kids, such as the story of the ant and the grasshopper. The ant works hard all summer to save up for winter, while the grasshopper lays around and does nothing. When wintertime comes, the government takes away most of the food the ant saved up, and gives it to the grasshopper. The moral of the story is that the ant was selfish, but the government made him pay for his sins.
