My mother read me Aesop's fables when I was little. I wonder if some kids today even know what a fable is.

The public schools today read Democrat Fables to the kids, such as the story of the ant and the grasshopper. The ant works hard all summer to save up for winter, while the grasshopper lays around and does nothing. When wintertime comes, the government takes away most of the food the ant saved up, and gives it to the grasshopper. The moral of the story is that the ant was selfish, but the government made him pay for his sins.
