Kerry lacks credibility in attack on Bush

CIA Director George Tenet said in a speech Thursday that his agency never contended that Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction were an imminent threat, and Senator John Kerry then exploded as if he were himself a weapon of mass destruction. "They (the Bush administration) said Iraq posed a 'mortal threat,' an 'urgent threat,' an 'immediate threat,' a 'serious threat,' and yes, an 'imminent threat' to the people of the United States," said the Democratic presidential candidate in what a news account describes as a prepared statement.
Given that Bush-is-a-liar outburst, it would seem time, for the sake of perspective and historical accuracy, to pull out a couple of quotes, the first from Kerry again, delivered in 2002 when he was explaining how he would vote on allowing military engagement with Iraq.
"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
Now Kerry, it should be understood, had means of finding out about the assessment of U.S. intelligence agencies concerning the Iraqi threat. If he voted the way he did without some research, he was being irresponsible. His words about a "real and grave threat" are at least as pressing as Bush's oft-quoted words about "a grave and gathering threat." Both phrases, as it turns out, were right, but neither phrase should be mistaken by anyone whose literacy is not in question as implying that Saddam stood ready to give terrorists chemical, biological or nuclear weapons imminently.
That brings us to the second quote, this one from President Bush in his State of the Union speech at the beginning of last year.
"Some have said that we must not act until the threat (from Iraq) is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If the threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words and all recriminations would come too late."
Here, just about as specifically as possible, Bush concedes the threat is not imminent. In fact, much of the debate preceding the war in Iraq was over the administration's intentions of going to war in the absence of an immediate threat, and it is impossible to think Kerry was so drowsy during all that discussion that he missed the point.
Tenet's Thursday remarks back up the administration - his assertion, for instance, that Bush never wanted anything but the unvarnished truth from him and his continued belief that Iraq posed a danger to this country.
The administration's credibility remains intact. Kerry's doesn't.

bump!
Try explaining this to a liberal who can't read such long sentences though and has the attention span of a gnat. They never seem to care much about the facts.

The DemocRATS have the worst case of selective memory on the planet and have either forgotten or their hatred of Bush has them convinced that 911 never happened combined with the "it was our fault anyway" mentality.
GW has much baggage in my view with his domestic agenda but the bottom line is this -
It is not safe for this America to have a DemocRAT in the White House!!!

Kerry knows better than his lies. Which make them all the more disgusting. Al Qaeda didn't have jets to fly into buildings, until they had jets to fly into buildings. What a difference a day makes, huh? What Senate investigation ever predicted from which direction that kind of threat emerges. What a dangerous and disingenuous "candidate."

The two faces of the Democrat Party and the idiots that listen to them.
Jobs lost over seas! Bill Clinton was the president when NAFTA was enacted and the Democrats voted for it. Why did they not filibuster like they did the Bush Judicial Nominees?
Foreign Policy. We need the UN,France,Russia,Germany and China!
Well there is documentation showing Saddam had France,Russia and Germany on his payroll. Where is the so called "Mainstream Media" and why have they swept this under the rug.
It was the Democrats and Bill Clinton that took all that foreign money and gave China all that technology on computers, space, and even the stealth bomber along with our war plans and access to our war college.
It was Bill Clinton and the Democrats that aided North Korea in it building of Nuclear Weapons. Yes the Democrat Foreign Policy and their dismantling of our intelligence community that left us to the terrorist.
Lets scream and holler about foreign policy but lets all yell it from the mountain tops what the Democrats and their foreign policy has done to America!

It was during the impeachment/Lewinsky affair that I gave up trying have any sort of meaningful conversation with those on the Left. Facts don't matter to them, evidence has no meaning- the only thing they do is spin, lie, slander, and change the subject.
I still try to persuede those in the middle.

I think you can sum up the mindset of a liberal Dim in one telling x42 sentence: It depends on what your definition of "is" is.
Tell a liberal the sky's blue, and they'll argue with you about how they feel the sky should be red because it's unfair it's blue all the time.

Tha Rats already have their talking points ready for this one. They simply say that George Bush lied to them and made them believe the threat was imminent. I saw Congressman Weiner(what an appropriate name) on Hannity and Kook the other night and thats what he was regurgitating.

So, ask them to explain this quote from their front runner:
"Mr. President, we have every reason to believe that Saddam Hussein will continue to do everything in his power to further develop weapons of mass destruction and the ability to deliver those weapons, and that he will use those weapons without concern or pangs of conscience if ever and whenever his own calculations persuade him it is in his interests to do so." John Kerry 3/13/98
I guess GWB was fooling him while still governor of Texas.

whichever side you think you are on you probably wouldnt be if you knew the facts, I do not claim to know the facts,
since it all comes from the media filter, but this I do know
both of these parties have suceeded in reducing the original intent of the founding fathers to little more than a meaningless jumble of slogans, both parties seek absolute power and absolute power corrupts.

Well, the sad fact of all this, is that the press has abdicated its watchdog responsibility and has chosen to protect one party. China is the gorilla in the room as far as I am concerned and Clinton's real "legacy." It won't shift until it is ready. But it will.

Just think how different the world would be today if our western Pacific allies were South Korea, Japan, Tawain and South Vietnam.
