CNSNews.com) - Two gun rights groups have canceled plans to hold their annual conference in New York City, citing Mayor Michael Bloomberg's denunciation of the National Rifle Association as "reprehensible."
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) and the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) announced Monday that they will take their 2005 Gun Rights Policy Conference somewhere else.
The conference, which provides over $500,000 in revenue to hotels, restaurants and other businesses, draws hundreds of attendees over a three-day period.
"Mayor Bloomberg's low opinion about the NRA, as reported in the current issue of New York Magazine, is an insult to all firearms civil rights organizations," said SAF founder Alan Gottlieb.
"If that's what the mayor thinks, we'll hold our conference in a city that is safer, and more hospitable to citizens who support all civil rights, including the right to own firearms and to hold opinions that Bloomberg finds so disagreeable," Gottlieb added.
The Republic National Committee plans to hold its national convention in New York on Aug. 30-Sept. 3. City Councilwoman Gale Brewer plans to introduce a resolution calling on the RNC to denounce the NRA.
The controversy surrounding the NRA is due in part to a website created by the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence that compiles quotes made by NRA leaders. Brewer is also opposed to the NRA's policy goals.
"It's a shame," said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron, "that the RNC couldn't relocate its convention, too. I'm certain there are many Republican delegates headed to New York who firmly believe in the Second Amendment and in the goals of those organizations that defend firearms owners' rights on a daily basis."
"Given the apparent atmosphere of social bigotry that seems to exist in the New York mayor's office and council chambers," Gottlieb said, "we simply have no choice but to find another location for our 2005 conference. The annual GRPC is attended by NRA officials and devoted NRA members, and we consider an insult to them to also be an insult directed at us, as well.
"We will make every effort to advise the hundreds of thousands of our members and supporters about this affront to their beliefs, and encourage them to spend their vacation time, and their money, in more friendly surroundings," he concluded.

Actually, I think during Reagan's presidency, there was a general amnesty. Along with that amnesty were promises to tighten border security. Worked real well back then, didn't it?

I've got no problem with ANY legal system of immigration control, as long as it involves NO amnesty for ANY current illegal here in defiance of our laws.

No problem with improving border control, but it should also include provisions and funding to INCREASE LOCATION AND DEPORTATION of current illegals.

I don't give a flying damn WHEN they came---if they are here illegally, then they should be arrested and deported----PERIOD. And, no, Virginia--"arrest'em and deport'em" is NOT a "knee jerk response"---it is simply WHAT THE LAW REQUIRES.
You know, that bunch of little societal rules that we are ALL supposed to follow.
If "I" am expected to follow the rules of this country, then I expect the same of anyone and everyone else here--be they citizen or immigrant. Certanly this is what is require of US when we go inside THEIR borders.
It would be ok with you if we rounded up and transported the illegals the same way the Nazis rounded up and transported the Jews. If you don't think that kind of jackbooted enforcement of our laws wouldn't damage our souls then you haven't any understanding of human nature nor a decent grasp of history.
In Iraq, we've been exercising the disciplined use of deadly force. I see from your yelling that this kind of disciplined use of authority is to be entrusted to your care. You don't have a reasonable grasp to the scope of the problem nor the necessary forethought to address it without creating a mess. Yell all you want if it helps your angst level but go back an read the proposal and really think this time.
Given the scope of the problem, just how would you do that. You are going to have to think past platitudes.

Bloomberg is a liberal Democrat. Worse, he is a secular "Jew" along the lines of Schumer and Feinstein (which means he is a phony Jew). See this list of famous Jews which contains a few real Jews (such as Benjamin Netanyahu), and many, many phony ones.
Round them up and deport them.

Noone here advocates mass murder off illegal immigrants. We just want them to return to their country of origin and then attempt to return legally.
If they refuse to return voluntarily, then they need to be deported. I don't care how many Greyhound busses it takes.
By your logic, it's sheer numbers that determine whether or not a law should be enforced. Thinking like that means we should be releasing every single person in prison for drug crimes. After all, there's millions of them, aren't there?

Now hold on. I know this is going to be tough, but if someone addressed the problem before Bush....how come it's a problem now? You 'round em up and deport em' types ought to learn to think a little deeper.
Yeah, I know he was pro-abort, and liberal in other ways, (like any liberal Republican), but at least he was tough on crime and had a better grasp on reality than most NYC Mayors that I've seen.....
