Defense Dept. Seeks Bush's Guard File

By Lois Romano

Washington Post Staff Writer

Tuesday, February 10, 2004; Page A07

The Defense Department has requested that President Bush's payroll records from his service in the National Guard be sent to Washington from a DOD archive in Colorado, to ascertain whether they can be released to news organizations and public interest groups that have formally requested them in recent days, according to DOD officials.

At issue is a 12-month period, commencing in May 1972, when Bush moved to Alabama to work on a senatorial campaign. He received permission to transfer to an Alabama unit and was instructed to report to duty there. There is no definitive evidence in his file that he reported to the Alabama unit to perform drills; Bush has said he did report and perform drills.

Bush's personnel records also are vague on what he did in the Texas Guard after returning to Houston after the Senate election he worked on. The first date in the records for 1973 is May 29, when they indicate he attended drills. The records show he attended drills at least 18 times between May 29 and July 30.

If there was anything in those files that could have been used against Bush, Bubba would have found it and given it to Gore before the election.

I'm ecstatic this nonstory is getting play now. The Kerryrats might have been able to skim a few points off of Bush if they'd tried this BS as a November Surprise, like Gore did with Bush's DUI story in 2000, but by bringing this up in February, it insures the issue will be long-forgotten by Election Day.

And at the same time, it makes all of Kerry's Vietnam shenanigans fair game.

An airplane was about to crash; there were 5
passengers on board, but only 4 parachutes.

The first passenger said, "I am Kobe Bryant,
the best NBA basketball player; the Lakers need me, I can't afford
to die." So he took the first pack and left the plane.

The second passenger, Hillary Clinton said, "I am the wife of the former U.S. President, a Senator from New York, and a potential
future president. And I am the smartest women in American history, so America's people don't want me to die." She took the second pack and jumped
out of the plane.

The third passenger, Wesley Clark, said, "I'm a
General in the Army of the United States of America". I am also going to be my parties nominee for President. So he grabbed the pack next to
him and
jumped.

The fourth passenger, President George W. Bush, said to the fifth passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have lived a full life,
and served my country well, I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute."

The girl said, "That's okay. There's a parachute left for you.

America's smartest woman took my schoolbag."

Good point.

Lord knows Kerry has a lot of baggage that needs to come out. I am just hoping that the RNC and the Bush campaign grows a couple of hairy ones and is willing to fight hard, because you know damn well they will.

My main objection as to Bush's military service is that he did not serve the entire military service commitment and was discharged early during time of war when other Americans were being killed in battle.

As for Kerry, it appears he may have actually violated the UCMJ by demonstrating against the government while still on active duty.

That's an Honorable Discharge.

I stopped "showing up" when I got mine too.

Plenty of guys got "early-outs".

Gore.

Kerry.

Even Clark.

But Bush...god, even then kept going!

Good for him!

And now, us.

But then too, to quote from the compendium of those wisest of Hebrew philosophers, The Three Stooges: "Enough is too much!"

Bush's service record was explored by the Democrats and the media in 2000 but received new attention recently, when Democratic National Committee Chairman Terence R. McAuliffe called Bush "AWOL" -- absent without leave -- during his time in Alabama.

This cra* came up before. Terry McAuliffe is a real Piece of Work ! ...

It was brought up back in 1994, when Bush first ran for governor too !

I guess the 'RATS can't comprehend the meaning of 'HONORABLE DISCHARGE'.

Honorable Discharge does NOT = AWOL Terry boy !!
