TX CD19: Neugebauer Leads Stenholm in 19th

Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R) held a double-digit lead over Rep. Charlie Stenholm (D) in a new GOP poll.

Neugebauer 49% - Stenholm 38 % Public Opinion Strategies(R) MOE+/-4.9% (400 likley voters) (01-26-27)

Neugebauer led the horse race despite being slightly less well-known in the district.

But if Charlie retires then Dyess AFB (in his district) will be more likely to fall to the BRAC hammer.

Charlie only won by 2% in 2002.....he will likely lose,,,

These Texas districts were carefully drawn to hose the Rats. I don't think Neugebauer has much to fear, although this could be one of the closer races.

That may be an understatement. The man should thank redistricting and the large GOP majority vote in Texas.

10% is pretty much considered a landslide in modern elections. I haven't analyzed the voting history of the new district, but I'd suspect it's something like a 53-47 split. Safe enough, unless you really screw up as an incumbent.

2002.... Dist 19 ...... it went statewides weighted average 70/30 and in the Lt Gov. it was 64/36

Yep......... they are. But the numbers as I read them are for the Dist #19 numbers looking at how each county/precinct voted in 02........ Maybe I'm wrong.......
