I'm not running for office but I'll answer anyway.

I haven't found a woman who wanted to marry me, though most women say I'd be a great catch for somebody else. Simple as that. California's funny like that.

And just because somebody is married doesn't necessarily mean anything whatsoever. Case in point: The Clintons.

Last I heard they had done pretty well - gotten a couple hundred thousand signatures, but they are a bit stressed about how to reach a wider audience. The hard-core conservative types responded to Ron Prince's talk radio appearances, and the immigration reform groups got word out via email.

But since this is an all-volunteer effort they need to 'step it up' to get sufficient signatures.

If Arnold is backing Jones, which he is, guess who will be running against Boxer.

Plus, Jones has been Secratary of State for 6 years and authored the 3-Strikes law. The only people who have ever heard of Kaloogian are KSFO listeners and a few folks here.

Are we gonna' get a repeat of the Campbell-Boxer race? Tom lost 48% - 43%, because "the perfect is the enemy of the good", and certain folks stayed home. Come on, tell me how we're better off with Boxer.

If they have over 200,000 signatures then they should make the deadline with at least 800,000 signatures.

I may yet vote for Kaloogian. But I'd like to know this about him. It seems odd to me. And odd to get so beaten-up on for merely bringing it up.

But that's okay. I work in a world of liberals, and I'm sortta used to it by now.

There never was a Campbell Boxer race. Campbell ran against Feinstein. Boxer first ran against Bruce Hirschenson, a conservative who lost by a scant margin subsequent to a last-minute dirty trick campaign. In 98 she defeated Matt Fong handily, so running a RINO against her didn't work.

I still enjoy this argument the best for "is Kaloogian the strongest challenger to Boxer?"

Matt Fong is a nice man. Just like Bill Jones. He was also MUCH more moderate than Bruce Herschensohn.

But people like to forget that Herschensohn did much better against Boxer than Fong.

Nominating a liberal or moderate GOPer is not a magical cure for victory. Ask Senator Seymour and Senator Campbell ;)

And in 1992 that was the so-called "year of the woman" when George Herbert Walker Bush became a one-termer to Klintoon and yet Boxer just eeked out victory with a last-minute smear of Herschensohn.
