I'm not "implying" anything.

I feel it speaks to family values and his overall worldview.

I thought the argument of the Jones folks was "Howard's a conservative, he can't win." Now it's "Howard is gay, he can't win?" LOL!

There's a new one too - "Howard wasn't really a leader in the recall effort" and a website to back it up.

I am thinking the Jones nightly tracking polls must be showing Howard picking up steam... why else unload on him?

A Jones supporter trying to imply that Howard's a homosexual, probably.

Ya think?

Wow, it is amazing. When you cannot use the facts, make up the fiction!

Perhaps OneDoug is just a little...shall we say...curious? Sad, though, unless he happens to be a tall blond with killer legs, and a woman since birth, I doubt he is really Howard's type...

That is one hell of an accusation.

You shouldn't be making claims that are patiently false.

So only married men (and women too, I'd assume) have a lock on family values and a proper worldview?

One has to be married to be a proper "conservative" in your view?

I don't think there is a Republican in all of California that can defeat Boxer.

California is a lost cause for whoever wins the primary, though at least Kaloogian will fight Boxer unlike Bill Jones.

Yeah, nevermind that it was HOWARD'S committee that launched the Recall Gray Davis rally in Sacto back when tofu-spined types like Dave Cox said the recall was a bad idea, when the big money country clubbers acted like they didn't know us, and when the only officeholders with the guts to publicy declare their support for the recall were Ray Haynes and Tom McClintock.

Where was Bill Jones then?? I sure didn't see him there!

I'm unmarried at 38. Wanna challenge my "conservative Republican" credentials?

Excrement happens.

Well if his family values include not wanting to ever get divorced resulting in him not rushing into something that won't last then I applaude him.

Who do you support to defeat Senator Barbara Boxer?

Bill Jones, former Secretary of State 23%
Howard Kaloogian, Chairman Recall Gray Davis Committee 65%
Rosario Marin, former U.S. Treasurer 7%
Toni Casey, former Los Altos Hills Mayor 5%

If Jones wins the nomination it will be rather fun to see Boxer chew him up and spit him out in November.

If it's a lost cause then Marin should be nominated to at least attempt to appeal to the Latino voters. I agree that none of them will beat Boxer. The GOP will need the Latino voters long term. Nominating Marin is an excellent first step.

Unmarried 28 year-old conservative veteran here and it has nothing to do with my family values or lack thereof.

"The GOP will need the Latino voters long term."

Not quite - the Hispanic vote is still tiny because at least 31% of the Hispanic population is Illegal Alien and therefore can't vote (Easily).

And 30% of the projected increase in the Hispanic population will come from illegals, so the GOP still has some time left on the clock.

In California the White vote is still 72% of the overall vote.

It is hard to believe that the California GOP nominated better candidates in 1966 than they do in 2004.

I've read you say that many many times. I can understand why you say that.

But that's not the way to change things.

I'm sorry, but with all due respect to your argument (and not a personal attack on you) I had to listen to people say things just like what you said all during the recall election.

First it was that we could never even get 100,000 signatures let alone 1,000,000.

Then when we made that threshold it was that we could never qualify the recall. We did.

Then it was that we could never qualify in time for an October special election. We did.

Then it was that our lawsuit against the Secretary of State was frivolous, a cheap publicity stunt that would never win. We won the lawsuit - the recall election was certified in time for October.

Then we were told that Davis would beat the recall and the recall would lose. We won.

Then we were told a Repub could never win. A Republican did.

Then we were told that if McClintock didn't drop out, Bustamante would surely win. McClintock didn't drop out and Arnold + McClintock accounted for almost 65% of the vote in a heavy turnout.

I'm a bit sick and tired of people telling me that the odds are too great for what is right to politically prevail.

Such an argument has been proved wrong repeateldy. We are determined to do it again!

Oh I think Kaloogian is a good candidate, I just think California is a lost cause, especially against Boxer whose campaign tactics are to the right of Genghis Kahn.
