[history]
State budgets could be passed more easily, with only a 55% vote. But so could tax increases.

I just did a quick browse, some really good info there.
I missed this one before I went to bed!
I was pounding on the WMD lies the Demonic Rats have been telling on President Bush.

A little note Norm
Wasserman was run off the Fresno Bee staff when he absolutely irritated the local community with this type of nonsense.

Calling this an initiative to streamline government is so transparent it fails to qualify as a trojan horse ... more like just a Trojan....

The liberals are spending millions to con the public on the airwaves here. How can we fool 'em again. Gridlock? Yeah and the fact they can't pass a budget here on time in California is less a procedural question than a matter of priorities. Rest assured, if Proposition 56 passes next month, every one here will look at tax increases well in excess of the $60 billion proposed in the last session of the California State Legislature. All easily passed by the majority party on its own and the "good government" reforms are window dressing to cover up the fact its as good as giving the politicians a blank check to grab whatever they want out of your wallets. Vote NO on Proposition 56!!!

A January Field Poll of 929 registered voters showed early support at only 37 percent. And as people become educated on 56 and realize what a sham 56 is and that once again, the unions are trying to hide their real intent under sheep's clothing, that number will get even lower.

A coalition that includes powerful oil, liquor and insurance interests is pouring millions of dollars into a campaign to defeat the initiative. Of course, this kind of selective journalism (listing what socialists/progressies will see as the capitalist pigs supporting 56) is big-business bashing and classism... an agenda that is part of the reason California is in the mess it's in.
Here's a list of those some of those opposing 56

The biggest problem we face with Prop 56 is that it is on the ballot with a strong Democrat primary and a weak Republican primary.
The Democrats will be motivated to turn out for a Presidential primary, while Republicans have to be motivated to vote for a nominee to run against Barbara Boxer in the Senate.
Will that be enough to turn out against Prop 56?
Also remember that this is the issue that the State Democrats were caught on an open mike plotting to create last summer. They wanted to delay passing the budget so they could hurt the people and blame Republicans in order to convince voters to support a 55% vote requirement instead of the current 66%.
