Illustrating again that one person's liability is another's asset. I thank God for VP Cheney. He has done nothing wrong or unethical to warrant the liability tag. To accept such is to accept the lies the dems tell about him: "Halliburton", "Pushed the CIA on Niger", etc.
To capitulate to dem demands that Cheney go (and that's what it is) based on lies would be a disgrace.
Also, here in CT, MTP is run on two different NBC affiliates... 10am on WVIT, 11am on WWLP. Check your local and cable listings... I hope you can catch the rerun!
That is where Bush should have replied: "And at the end of every one of these wars was a recession, a deep one. Raising taxes during war time, is like cutting the plow horse's feed when you're plowing hard ground.
If you mean in inches, wasn't Gore taller than Bush?
Good heavens, this is what we've come to. We're afraid (and prob. with good reason) that a totally corrupt, incredible, bankrupt idiot might get the popular nod to lead America further into Hell because he's taller than President Bush?
I've never trusted the electorate since Clinton. If Kerry wins, we as a people deserve everything that happens to us.
Heck, we deserve it already.
Dan
Are you short or something? (or short on something?) Are you afraid of rabbits?
I take the President at his word. I believe he is honest and truly means what he says. He believes the guest worker scenario must be done generally as he outlined: Sign-up and work here for 3 years and then apply for permanent legal status. The 3 years can be extended for another 3 years. The families come here with the worker at the outset. Any babies birthed during that period are of course American citizens needing care from their parents.
Legal and metered immigration is healthy and necessary for America. Bush's plan would provide the legal residence aspect. But the sheer volume of the influx of this largely low-skilled and very low-paid work force can only be detrimental to our country long term.
It's detrimental for all the reasons and more that I listed in post #739.
Perhaps you are correct and this is some Machiavellian ploy by Bush to ultimately impede illegal immigration by seeming to favor legalizing it and then counting on public outcry to force Congress to pass strong, sensible border and immigration legislation.
I rather think Bush means what he says. He was close to pushing for his sweeping Family Reunification Act [reunited here, not back in the home country] just prior to 9-11. Now it's back.
I expect Bush will be as silent as possible on the matter through November. And I fully expect renewed activity afterwards. A 2005 meeting with his good friend Vicente Fox resulting in another we-can't-call-it anmesty plan.
I'll continue to do what I can to point out the obvious folly of such policies.

A great way to put it!!
I hate it, especially when it is disguised and undeclared - like Russert. Russert was real low today!
We'll have to keep our chins up.
He was talking about GWB's unfavorability rating from exit polls from what was mostly a Democrat primary. Bush didn't go for the bait. It was a trap I didn't see until three seconds into Bush's answer. Bush finessed that one subtly but BRILLIANTLY. If Bush had snapped at that, he would have looked petty. Instead, he turned it into the strongest part of the interview.
