MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH Painkillers for aborted babies? Lawmakers consider bill to relieve 'terror and suffering of children'

A bill is gathering support in the Virginia legislature that would require unborn children be administered a painkiller before abortions are performed.

A measure introduced by Republican Dick Black will be considered by the justice committee of Virginia's lower chamber, the House of Delegates, Monday, reported WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. The Senate will address a similar measure Thursday.

"We must do everything possible to relieve the terror and suffering of children as they are aborted," said Black in a statement.

The plan, which applies to abortions performed after the 12th week of pregnancy, would bring criminal charges to any abortion doctor who does not administer the painkiller.

WRC said the bill has support in the Virginia General Assembly, with more than 50 delegates and 15 senators acting as co-sponsors. Most of the sponsors are Republicans, but there is bipartisan support.

Anyone know the latest on the 10 ounce baby born alive and was doing well (last week)?

As technology continues to make babies viable at earlier stages of pregnancy, the baby killers will continue to become more and more cornered. And since many Americans seem to need constant reminders that yet-to-be-born babies have emotions, sensations, personalities, and souls, this should at least bring attention to their helpless plight.

Well, why not - we execute murderers humanely by lethal injection. Let's also show some compassion for the innocents we put to death.

The whole point of the legislation--loud political statement through bitter irony, irony through written statute and regulation.

Good point. And you're right. It will be very hard for pro-death advocates to argue with it. Actually good strategy when you think about it.

Right on! And isn't this the same state that recently nixed a bill requiring abortion clinics to abide by the same health standards as other outpatient clinics?

It would be barbaric to give addictive narcotics to a ... never mind.

Next up...it may adversely affect the "mother".

Not to mention that abortion isn't like putting an animal to sleep; it rips the "clump" of cells to pieces.

""We must do everything possible to relieve the terror and suffering of children as they are aborted," said Black in a statement."

So it's still okay to murder them as long as we reduce their pain and suffering. That is just so sick I don't what to say. My disgust at what we've become grows with every passing day.

"How, rhetorically speaking, are the pro-choicers going to fight this one?"

They will oppose it saying that is presupposes that the baby fetus is a person capable of feeling pain and therefore redefines personhood, putting at risk the right of a mother woman to murder her own children control her own body.

The argument couldn't be any worse than that of the nitwit on O'Reilly last night. To paraphrase, "You have to be allowed to kill it because you might want more in the future."

Or she will be told that it is for HER comfort, and not the baby's. Can't be having the murdering, selfish b*tch woman suffering twinges of guilt, now can we?

If this law passes, why not change the word "abortion" to EXECUTION?

Not accurate enough. MURDER would be closer to the truth. Better yet, just call a spade a spade. It is really SACRIFICE OF THE BABY. Killing in hopes of some kind of benefit, such as a more convenient situation for the "mother", is CHILD SACRIFICE, as surely as it was in the days when people openly paid homage to Molech and other evil spirits. Same thing, different name.

Beat me to it. That's exactly what they'll do. Unfortunately, that argument gets harder for them to make every day.

Yes, and even that argument was a lie.

Partial birth abortion does not preserve a woman's 'future fertility' any more than would allowing the already-partially born baby to slip the rest of the way out into the world.

Her claim is just patent nonsense, and she knew it. You could tell by the way she kept shrieking and interrupting.
