If Kerry wins the nomination, President Bush can take comfort in knowing that John Kerry has more Skeleton's in his closet than all of Saddam Hussein's mass graves put together :-)

Depending on who you talk to, Kerry represented the moderate, respectable side of veteran protests (after all, he and VVAW were nonviolent and working within the system) or he was the slanderer responsible for the image of Vietnam veterans as either reluctant soldiers, ashamed of their service and angry at the United States, or vicious, misfit war criminals.
Not true.... VVAW took over the Statue of Liberty and held it hostage with a list of "demands." (Or what, pray tell?)

The young politician was able to have his cake and eat it, too, becoming the establishment, patriotic face of a radical, anti-patriotic movement. Quite a trick, really.Sort of like him yelling about the special interests and taking their money or voting to authorize military action in Iraq and then voting against the funding. What a man.

I was on the phone with some of the founders. I would suspect the information is closely researched.

Kerry ran for election to the U.S. House in 1972 during which he found it
necessary to suppress reproduction of the cover picture appearing on his
own book, The New Soldier. His political opponent pointed out that it
depicted several unkempt youths crudely handling an upside down
American flag to mock the famous photo of the U.S. Marines at Iwo
Jima.

Kerry organized one of the most confrontational protests of the entire Vietnam War called Operation Dewey Canyon III. It began April 18, 1971, with nearly 1,000 Vietnam vets gathered on the Washington, D.C., Mall for what they called "a limited incursion into the country of Congress. Pictured right, VVAW demonstrators armed with toy rifles, stage guerrilla theatre with mock "search and destroy" missions and massacres of civilians.
I am glad this Son of Boston (SOB) bigwig was looking out for me while I was in country.
He cared almost as much for me as the toon who was drinking Commie beer on the day I go my orders to cross the pond.
Both are scum and I hope some one pees on their graves, it won't be me, cause I promised never to stand in a military line again.

" VVAW were nonviolent and working within the system)"
This is another myth perpetuated by John " I say I'm a war hero, therefore, I am a war hero " Kerry. The VVAW plotted to bomb buildings, just like the Weathermen and other domestic terrorist groups at the time. Maybe the FBI should reopen some unexplained campus bombings for VVAW connections.

War veteran
John O'Neill, who publicly debated Kerry at this time, has been reported as saying
Kerry's statements about war crimes were irresponsible, wrong, immoral and a "disservice to all the people that were there. ... The war didn't change [Kerry]. I think
he was a guy driven tremendously by ambition. I think he was that way before he went and is that way today."
During his first run for Congress, trying to get to the left of Father Drinan, Kerry was quoted as saying he would like to "almost eliminate CIA activity" and declaring that he wanted U.S. troops "dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations."
Saying whatever he needed to say apparently came easily to Kerry during his failed 1972 second attempt for Congress. According to Anthony R. DiFruscia, who ran against Kerry in that race and now is a Republican state representative in New Hampshire, Kerry would say one thing in one town and something else in another.
In the more Spanish and Catholic area of Lawrence, DiFruscia said recently, Kerry would give speeches saying he personally was opposed to abortion and finds it repulsive, leaving the impression he was opposed to abortion. But in the more socially liberal and protestant Concord area, Kerry would say he supports a woman's right to choose, so voters there would believe he supported abortion. "He set a pattern of providing to various groups what they wanted to hear," DiFruscia said. And, "Kerry would also show pictures of himself holding a gun" and then make vehement statements opposing the war.
Back in 1973, [Kerry] said he had presidential ambitions," says DiFruscia. "He planned his life around being president.
(Paul J.) Sheehy reports, Kerry said in a speech during that race that things were so bad someone had died of starvation in Lowell, an event that never happened.

What the author describes is not at all unusual, I'm afraid.
Several weeks ago, before this book even became news, I put it on hold at the NY Public Library. There were NO other holds listed. I had even thought of going to pick it up, but was too lazy.
Now, suddenly, there are SIX OTHER HOLDS listed before mine. (Meaning, in effect, I will never see it.) I have been putting things on hold with the NY Public Library for years, and this has never happened to me before.
There is a concerted effort to make sure this book stays out of the hands of the public.

LOL. See my post above on this subject.
When did you put it on hold? Could you check?

BTW, I just checked my status, and I am now NUMBER ONE in line. (1 out of 10 holds.)
So, with any luck the person who currently has it out will actually return it.
If they do I will scan it and try to put it up somewhere where it can be accessed. (Naturally following all of the laws of copyright that pertain.)
But I have heard that Kerry only wrote the last chapter--the epilogue. And even that is mostly just his "speech" before the Senate in April 1971--which many say was ghost written for him by RFK speech-writer, Walinsky.

I put the Kerry book on hold last week -- I was 4 of 4 then. Now I'm 4 out of 10. The NYPL has only one copy of the book in their entire system. I'm pinging Dan from Michigan to this thread, as he got the book out from the library last week. Dan, what do you think of it?
To: RWR8189
So what else did Brinkley's book leave out our maybe even lie about.
Did Brinkley get to see JFKerry's military records?
To: NYCVirago
I am beginning to fear that the NY library copy has been disappeared. I should have gotten it by now.
