DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- When you boil it all down, the Budweiser Shootout is nothing but a glorified practice among 19 drivers to see who has the best Daytona 500 backup car.
So why is it always so intense?
Why do 22 drivers -- pole winner from 2003 and previous Shootout winners -- go after it so hard?
Well, it's simple. It's a race. There's money on the line. Did we mention it was a race?
"It's like a bar fight, but the car takes the beating," defending Budweiser Shootout winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Screw the truck, Jr was in his "bad piece" for this race. He has a BETTER car for the 500. He will not be denied.

I read one of Boris' quotes where he said as long as he got a finish, and didn't embarass himself, he would be as happy as the winner.
Looks like he did fine.

'Twas a good start to the year. Thanks for the thread, and if I don't see you tomorrow, I'll see you guys on Thursday for the Twin 125s.

I notice a CHEVY pushed a Ford to a win
and a car just went down the street with its left door serving as the front bumper!
