DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- When you boil it all down, the Budweiser Shootout is nothing but a glorified practice among 19 drivers to see who has the best Daytona 500 backup car.
So why is it always so intense?
Why do 22 drivers -- pole winner from 2003 and previous Shootout winners -- go after it so hard?
Well, it's simple. It's a race. There's money on the line. Did we mention it was a race?
"It's like a bar fight, but the car takes the beating," defending Budweiser Shootout winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

I suspect Glock suffers from repressed memory syndrome. I believe he was chased by a gaggle of geese when he was younger then he is now...

Do any of the fans here have the scoop on the technical changes for this year? I have heard rumblings of changes to the rear spoiler and to the rubber compound used on the tires. What's the real skinny?

NASCAR is going to shave a bit off the back spoiler starting at Rockingham to try to limit aero-push, and Goodyear is softening up the tires a bit to give the cars more mechanical grip.

Is that all for this year?
To: tubebender
Let's get ready to "start" a new season, with new points rules...good? Bad? Tonight we have a softer compound, more roof strips, different spoiler heights and, well, it's a RACE isn't it? GRRRRRollin'
