Admiral Moorer was Chief of Naval Operations when I was in the Navy. He was truly a great flag officer unlike Wesley Clark.

I remember ADM Moorer.

One of the requirements I performed for achieving Eagle Scout, was an essay/interview of a famous American. One of the Scout Counselors, a history teacher, recommended a via-letter interview with ADM Moorer.

I still have those letters, in a box somewhere...

Thank You, Sir.

I have read a lot of things said by Admiral Moorer. He is the only public personality I have never ever disagreed with.

A real conservative.

'In this citation, the secretary of defense said, "I particularly note that Tom Moorer has always put his country's interests before anything else, and it is this quality I recognize in presenting him the only oak leaf cluster ever given to the Defense Distinguished Service Medal."'

Rest in Peace Adm. Moorer.

We have Adm. Moorer to thank for the F-14. Had it not been for his testimony before congress, the Navy would have been flying the non-fighter that the air force uses, the F-111 (the air force calls it's small bombers fighters). Adm. Moorer told congress there wasn't enough thrust in all christiandom to make a fighter out of the F-111. Thank you Admiral.
