[history]
Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.
House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

There are a bunch here that can't stand it that anyone in the Republican party could be wrong. No matter how obviously wrong something may be. It is in likeness to....Not My Kid...My Kid never does anything wrong.

" Tancredo did it when he shot his mouth off to the all too willing to pile on press. Great principled act that was ."
Sound like a great guy to me. Sounds like he cares a whole lot more about his party than those who take your position. At least he is trying to change things in stead of watching it commit suicide. Which is what is happening under the hear no evil...see no evil crowd. Stop fooling yourself and demand a change. That is unless you really like socialist policy that is being put forward.

I can't say enough how proud I have been of you for all the events you have organised and been a part of over the years. You sure got to Gore. Angelwood is another one. And It makes me feel really great to see you defending the very principles that led you to fight in the first place. The ones who are fighting you now are real heartbreakers. They stand for party only, but where are there principles ?

Right. He is helping to change things by whining to whomever listens and mugging for the Presstitutes. You betcha. You do know Tancredo's "fix" is not substantially different than the President's, right?
Your Tancredo mini-hagiography is touching, but inaccurate.

And being from "the class of 1998" is something to be ashamed of precisely why?

I was listening to the Don Crow radio show earlier today and he was interviewing Tancredo about what went on at the retreat...I posted it on an earlier thread.

Tom Tancredo is on the Don Crow show right now...talking about illegal aliens...he says that this all comes down to the rule of law. He said what concerns him is that we are in a clash of civilizations. He said we have created a Cult of Multiculturalism. We are telling six to ten millions people they can have a duel citizenship. He said we are in process destroying Western Civilization. We should expect people who come here to become Americans or be a guest worker and leave when their time is up.
He said he tried talking to Karl Rove...but Karl would not listen to him...He said that Karl Rove lives in a echo chamber...Rove talks to his DC colleagues ...and they have the attitude that they are the political gurus... that they are the experts...they are not listening he says.
Tom said that many people have been calling Congress and the pressure is working...but he says we need to call the White House...because Karl Rove has tin ears.

Principles did NOTHING for those who claim that they have them, but the rest of us don't, during the Clinton years.
And we can all go and yell our lungs out, in front of the White House, IF Kerry wins, but that won't do a damned bit of good in stopping him doing awful things. There are NOT, and probably never shall be,enough numbers on our side, to make protesting the other side as big a deal, as the lunatics who pranced and shouted at Nixon. That doesn't mean I think FREEPS should stop; it means that NOT working to oust Dems, is far more important, than giving aid and comfort to them, by going fringe.

IMO, this needs to be repeated over and over again. This is where we can find some agreement within our party, make some progress, and make a stand.
I have always said we need to make Karl understand what is happening under his "watch".

Well, I'm certainly not ashamed of it, but lately some have been VERY vocal in asserting that those of us with '98 signup dates should be viewed with suspicion as trolls and disruptors. Personally, I find these comments offensive and a little scary. Furthermore, if they think this paranoia is going unnoticed, I can assure them it isn't.
I wish they'd knock it off already, it's gotten old.

You may be right.
