Hillary Aide: Bush Should Come Clean on AWOL Charges

An adviser to New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is daring President Bush to prove he didn't go AWOL from the National Guard in 1972 by releasing his military records.
Asked if he thought Bush needed to produce his Guard records, Howard Wolfson told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" Wednesday night: "Absolutely. He could solve this very easily by coming clean with the American people and letting them know what he did and didn't do."
Wolfson, who was Mrs. Clinton's Senate campaign spokesman in 2000 and currently serves as her adviser, attacked Bush's military record despite Bill Clinton's own problems during the Vietnam era with the draft.
However, Mrs. Clinton's one-time spokesman was unfazed by the incongruity of his attack.
"The truth is," he insisted, "the Republicans brought this on themselves. ... They had George Bush go out to an aircraft carrier on a stunt. He dressed up in a flight suit. He tried to tell everyone that he was a pilot."
"The fact is that he didn't serve for much of the time," Wolfson insisted.
Wolfson urged Bush to produce his military records despite the fact that his political team already did so during the 2000 campaign.
At the time the New York Times reported, "Guard records show [Bush} received credit for having performed all the required service."
Mrs. Clinton's adviser insisted, however, that "for 18 months [Bush's] commander at the base says that he didn't see him."
Wolfson was apparently unaware that earlier in the day, the commander in question, Brig. Gen. William Turnipseed, had recanted his allegation, telling NBC News: "I don't know if [Bush] showed up, I don't know if he didn't. I don't remember how often I was even at the base."

After one reads
Clinton's December 1969 letter to his ROTC Director and then
Colonel Eugene Holmes's September 1992 affidavit concerning Bill Clinton and the draft, one can only conclude the following:
- Bill Clinton "played" the system by pitting one end against the other.
- Clinton got Sen. Fullbright's office to pressure the Arkansas Draft Board into deferring Clinton's draft due to ROTC enrollment.
- Clinton then approached the University of Arkansas ROTC Director to offer Clinton a position in the ROTC program in order to defer his draft. He wanted the ROTC director to notify the draft board that he was enrolled in the ROTC program.
- Clinton fooled the University of Arkansas ROTC Director into believing that he wanted a position in the ROTC program to maintain his political ambitions yet still serve his country.
- Clinton never intended to join the University of Arkansas ROTC program, instead skipping out and enrolling in Oxford in England. He later "apologized" to the ROTC Director, claiming concientious objection.
For Hillary! to level charges that Bush was somehow AWOL after her husband "gamed" the system and played both ends against the middle, is the lowest of low.
But what do you really expect from a Clinton or a Democrat?

Yo, Hillary!
You know, perhaps, you know, I'm, you know, not being FAIR not showing a picture of your husband, you know, the impeached president, when HE served in the military. What? He didn't? Oh. Well, I was able to find one from April 1, 1999, when he visited the Norfolk Naval Station more or less to defend his decision to send troops into Kosovo. He's actually, you know, saluting! Can you believe it? Observe the direction of his glance.
By the way, Hillary, remember when your husband, you know, the impeached president, said this?
NATO's military action is designed to "restore the Kosovars to their homes with security and self-government. Had we not acted, the Serbian offensive would have been carried out with impunity."

Clinton also said in 1997 that troops in Kosovo would be home for Christmas. Six Christmas' later, they're still there.

Yes there could be documentation, except 1973 is one of the worst years to try and find military records as the Vietnam war had been winding down for a couple of years. Administration for active duty, Guard, and Reserves everywhere were swamped in paperwork. Their main priorities were separating personnel, and those who intended to stay in. The Guard and Reserve were flooded with active duty personnel who the regular forces had no room for due to shrinking manpower needs.

Wolfson is a scrawny-necked, beady-eyed Puke. I saw an excerpt from that interview, thought Hillary's little enuch needed to keep up, that tired ole tale fizzled and died in 2000. Of course, thats how LaHane, Hattaway and those other punks operate. 1. Make up a story, 2. Repeat it as much as possible til someone refutes it, 3. Back off for a while, then recycle it.

Terry McAwful, is that you? Your sarcasm/joke/whatever brackets didn't show up for some reason...
This is a joke, right?
Was it worth it as a long-term freeper getting banned just so you could say something as absurd as that?
Well, you're gone from here, but you can still click on this link to read a pretty good account of GWB's time in the Guard.

If you read the letters, you can't help but be amazed at how skillful Clinton was, even at that young age, of playing one hand against the other for personal gain.

You highlighted exactly why they are dredging up this old nonsense. That trip to the carrier enraged them like nothing else because he looked like the leader he is. The military truly respects him and it emphasizes all Clinton's failings vis a vis the military.
They absolutely cannot STAND that carrier landing!

That was the worst opus I've ever read.
