Please distribute this far and wide to let everyone know that President Bush stands for the sacred institution of marriage between a man and a woman.

Please post the press releases of the DemocRAT Presidential candidates on the Supreme Court Ruling on this thread so we can have a record of all of them together.

Thanks!

I admire the President's unwavering commitment on this, but let's be realistic here. In a nation where the U.S. Supreme Court has no qualms about making up rights that don't exist in the Constitution while at the same time ignoring ones that do, a constitutional amendment regarding the sanctity of marriage is nothing more than a waste of time.

I'll start a running file on this subject, leading with this post, and adding anything I find from the opposition.

If I get enough links, I'll post it separately, if not, I'll append it here.

Anyone who sees articles from the Dems, please ping me.

Has Kerry issued a statement as well?

Don't know but here's where he stands:

"In 1996 Kerry was one of only 14 senators to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act to protect states from being forced to recognize another state's same-sex "marriages." It was signed by President Clinton, and Bush supports it."

We must do what is legally necessary to defend the sanctity of marriage.

I hope that means he'll be drafting the necessary amendment and introducing it forthwith, with all the force of the bully pulpit Reagan would have used in this situation.

Some activist judge will find the constitutional convention unconstitutional.

If we must have a constitutional ammendment, then at least make it a productive one. Say, perhaps, re-establishing the separation of powers? Making it clear, once again, that it is the legislative and executive which make laws?

The constitution should not become a dictionary.
